More than a walk on the wild side

The region’s most unique new attraction, the Wilderness opens at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park this Easter. TV stars Dora the Explorer and Diego will perform the official opening ceremony on 2nd April. Legends of monsters and adventures await discovery when families explore the Wilderness at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park .

The ‘Wilderness’ is a wild outdoor adventure of magical treehouses, wild deer, Grufflegoats, nature trails and the story of the Grindle Brook Ogre. ‘Wilderness’ opens on Good Friday, 2nd April, when Dora the Explorer and Diego are also at Crealy for the Easter M’Egga Hide ‘n’ Seek of 30,000 chocolate eggs.

The monster of Grindle Brook was first documented before 400AD, when Romans living on the land recorded sightings. Those records are now kept at The Devon Records Office.

The legend of the Grindle Book Ogre lives on at Crealy in the imaginative adventures of the ‘Wilderness’. With curious stories and intriguing facts about the wild creatures and their habitats, families can explore ‘Wilderness’ as brave adventurers.

Angela Wright, MBE, Managing Director of Crealy said, “We are so excited about opening the ‘Wilderness’ this Easter. To have Dora and Diego open our newest attraction is an honour and will be tremendous fun!

The ‘Wilderness’ really sums up what Crealy is all about - safe adventurous play for families, where they can explore the natural magic of our legendary land.”

Crealy is investing £1.6m in 2010 in new attractions and facilities at the parks in Devon and Cornwall. At Devon’s Crealy Maximus rollercoaster launched in February, with the Wilderness in April, followed by the Vortex watercoaster in May. At Cornwall’s Crealy the first rollercoaster will open on 1st May as Morgawr the Cornish sea monster.

We've visited Crealy a number of times over the years and its generally a very good family day out - what annoyed me last visit was that you pay the gate price which is reasonable but they then charge you for a lot of the additional attractions for the kids which isn't really on as they don't advertise this fact very well. So if you do intend visiting over the coming months do expect to pay out a lot more than just the standard ticket price.

If we were in the area we'd still pay them a visit but take in to account the added cost.
