Pufferfish Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 A new $35 million waterpark for Cairns has recieved approval from the regional council. It is set to start construction in May to be finished for 2011. This will just be the first stage of construction with the second one set to begin construction as soon as the first stage is open. Source:www.themeparknewsdirect.com/australia-and-new-zealand/2009/adventure-waters-receives-approval I have to say, this looks like a really nice project. They are really going to utilize the land they have very well. Here's a couple pictures of what they are planning. Photo: Adventure Waters Photo: Adventure Waters
Paul_Hollibone Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 So it was approved? Sounds good, but do we really need more Waterparks?Screw the Waterparks I say, give us more Dry Parks and some decent coasters. That's what this coaster deprived country needs.
downunder Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 ^If they put in a megalite and an Intamin prefab like Balder somewhere I'd never leave Australia, except to play sport. Does Cairns need a waterpark? Don't they kind of have great beaches or do people need an alternative to waterways full of man eating sharks, crocodiles, box jellyfish, and morbidly obese British tourists in speedos. Aren't I great for tourism, almost as bad as Lara Bingle.
Paul_Hollibone Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 So where the bloody hell have you been? Cairns I suppose does get pretty hot, so it does deserve a waterpark in a way, but I can't really see it becoming a big tourism hotspot. Now if a decent dry Park was built up there, I know i'd certainly be up there on opening day.
