Hey everybody.... I am planning to take Sammi up to Cedar Point at the end of the month. Due to school/dance team commitments it's looking like it's going to be a drive up in the morning, spend the day, spend the night, head home the next day kind of trip. I am not sure there would be any advantage to staying at CP resort because I doubt we will get there before scheduled opening and probably won't go back the next day.

I was eyeing the Quality Inn, which as I recall from years ago sits right at the end of the causeway and has a bowling alley, off track betting, and now, apparently, some indoor water activities. It's a good bit cheaper than Great Wolf or Castaway Bay, and I am wondering if anyone has stayed there and what their opinion is.

Thanks,

Shari

I've only been to CP once and stayed at Breakers. We walked over to that hotel for the OTB and food/alcohol. It was a fun restaurant with OKAY food. I'm a veg and there wasn't much on the menu for me to eat. But they did make a good drink (and they also had these HUGE beer glasses w a bowling ball base).

I wandered around the hotel portion and it looked a little seedy, didnt see what the rooms looked like, but the hallway was a little seedy.

When we were there (I think around 8:30/9pm), it looked like the water park was closed.

Bowling was pretty neat (blacklight).

I would probably stay there if I wasnt going to the park to play around in the water park....but it was a little seedy, perhaps bring your own sheets.

Every time I have ever stayed near CP I have stayed at the Econo Lodge that is directly across from the hotel that you are talking about.

It's nothing fancy, but it's not dirty at all, and it's nice enough for me to keep going back. They always seem to have the cheapest rates of any of the hotels around.

If you're not looking to party at the hotel and have an indoor water park, it may be worth looking into for you. Plus, you could still walk right across the street to the restaurant in the other hotel, or TGIF is right there as well.

Have fun, and good luck hotel hunting!

Actually, I stayed there 2 years ago. It's kind of like a low class water park, kinda boring, but ok. It's a little small too. The 2 slides are pretty good. I always liked the red white and blue one better. have fun! :]

The Quality Inn and Suites Rainwater Park hotel in Sandusky OH is near Cedar it is just located just minutes. And the popular Thirsty Pony and Cedar Downs restaurant and lounge are also located on site. so, that place is really great for travelers and friends, even families and some business travels.
