Stitch Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 For those who don't know, a rant is just someone expressing their opinions on certain subjects. Keep in mind these are just my opinions and I am not saying only my opinions are right ... on to the rant. Disney's movie release policy A couple of days ago I tried to buy Beauty and the Beast on Dvd but low and behold I could not find it any where. I was very perplexed as to why I couldn't find it, I mean they had released a new Dvd of it not too long ago. So, I went online to see if I could find it but I found that Disney had already taken it off shelves. I find it ridiculous that Disney releases a movie as a new edition, only to take it away after about a year and then re-release it a few years down the line as a new edition. It drives me crazy that I can't go out and buy my favorite Disney movies because of their policy. Disney does this to make more money when they re-release the title and that just drives me bonkers. I personally feel that if Disney would leave their movies in stores that they would sell more copies. I can think of at least five films of theirs I would love to buy but I can't. So, to close this rant I say this ... Disney, you make excellent movies, you don't have to resort to pulling you titles then re-releasing them as new editions to sell your movies! Dvds being re-released a few months later This weekend I went to Meijer (a department store in the mid west) and I went to the movie department. Upon browsing through the titles I saw that they have already released a new edition of I-Robot, The Day After Tomorrow, The Grudge and some others. I find it pathetic that movie companies have to resort to releasing these new editions to sell their product. The majority of movies that get re-released shorty after their initial Dvd release are movies that suck. If you made a crappy movie just accept it, don't try to gussy it up as a new edition. No matter how you package a crappy product it is still a crappy product. Bottom line, if you made a crappy movie just release it and hope some one buys it. There is no need to make a new edition of the same thing only after a couple of months of being on the shelves!
Wes Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Yeah, how dare they try to make money? Think of the children. Also: http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1092580357&pr=3382768
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 See now, I know of ALOT of people who think that Disney releases their movies too often. When you see those commercials from Disney that say "Limited Time" ... they mean it!!!
