hobbit Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 some people think that if you are sit backseat you are going faster. is this true or false ? this rollercoaster train has 5 parts with each 4 seats. the train is coming down from his first drop, and after the first drop he is going up into a camelback... The Question: Which car is fastest at the bottom of the drop? car 1.. car 2.. car 3.. car 4.. car 5.. or the front car is going just as fast as the backseat car on the bottom of the drop.. if you know it.. just say the number of the car.. not the explanation, so the other people can also figure it out.... (sorry for my bad english. i hope you understand it.) the anser coming in a few days.... GOOD LOOK !
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 When going into a drop following a lift hill/heavy trim, all the cars in the train are slow going into the drop, however, the last few cars aren't affected by the trim/chain as much because the first few cars pull the back cars down the hill... On top of that, the last couple of cars aren't affected by the trims/chain as much as the first couple of cars because the last cars are able to disengage from the trims/chain sooner than the first cars. The first couple of cars have to wait for the last few cars to disengage from the chain/trim in order for them to pick up speed. You'll normally see this on coasters with heavy trims like LNM or low-speed coasters like BTMRR. A lot of old Arrow, B&M, Vekoma, and Intamin coasters try to solve this problem with the pre-drop on first hills. I hope this helps...
hobbit Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 but which car is going the fastest at the bottom of the drop?
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I believe that no matter which car you're sitting in, you're still travelling at the same speed at the bottom of the drop either way... You just get to experience the drop much longer when riding in the back car than in the front car.
hobbit Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 no, you experience the drop longer at the front of the train, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQtfUdJ5jto watch this video... and count de drop first of the front seat. and than from the backseat. frontseats is longer in the drop than the back...
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I think you took my post out of context, but it was probably my fault for wording it funny... You experience the first drop longer when sitting in the front car, but it also feels slower when you're sitting in front... Sitting in the back feels faster, but ultimately, you'll be travelling at the same speed at the bottom of the first drop either way...
hobbit Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 No think again... because the front car is going up in the camelback (the backcar will slow down because the front car is going up...
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The front of the train would slow down when going up the hill, but the front of the train at the base of the first drop is travelling at the exact same speed as the back of the train at the exact same point on the first drop... However, I believe that the front of the train would travel slower at the base of the first drop than the back of the train if the drop is small, the train is long, and the chain lift speed is slow... Dan- You should probably ask somebody with more experience in the industry...
hobbit Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 well, which car is the fastest? all the cars have the same speed. backseat can never overtake the frontseat. This is because the train can be considered as 1 moving mass. on ony moment the backseat is going just as fast as the frontseat. but a train is long, this means that not every car in the same place the same speed. The front car is always further on the track when a speed is reached, and the back car is always later in the track. To find out what the fastest car goes below a drop (in the valley),. at this moment the frontseat is at the below the drop. but the front seat has 4 cars left,, and those 4 cars can make more speed. number 3 at that moment the fastes car below the drop (in the valley) At the top: For runs quiet, middle speed, rear accelerates Just over the top until just before the bottom: For speed, medium speed, after delay at the bottom: To accelerate, slow middle, behind slows Just after the drop until just before the camelback top: For slow, medium slow, behind slows ANSER = CAR NUMBER 3 i hope you can understand this english
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Mmm... Interesting... I never thought of it that way. Your English is fine for somebody that has English for a second language...
hyyyper Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Car 3 The trains potential energy is transformed into maxium kinetic energy in when the train is in the lowest positiion. That would mean car 3 is in the center, thus the middle of the drop. Before that, the train is still accelerating, and after, it will be decelerating.
