U2Rox Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hey Everybody, From February 11 through the 15, I had the privilege to experience this years’ Texas Music Educator’s Association Convention. It is an Annual Convention that Highlights the Best Student All-State musicians in the state of Texas. The Convention also gives an opportunity for music educators to join together to listen, learn and grow in their ongoing process of teaching. The Convention is held in beautiful San Antonio, Texas and offers a wide range of opportunities, from Performances to clinics/sessions, and offers the largest exhibit hall imaginable! I am a past Tx. All-Sate Choir member and am a Music Educator myself!! So I am excited to share these photos with you. It’s a blur, but this is me and my friend and colleague Henry! I’m on the right, I teach Orchestra, he’s on the left and teaches Band!! Photo of the river just across from our Hotel! Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center!! It is Huge!! It is strange to get this shot, because there are usually tons of people passing through here. The TMEA Sign!! Remember the Alamo!! After we went and signed in. We had the rest of day to relax and prepare for the next three days! Me and the Alamo! Ha, Ha!! There in the Downtown area they have many tourist shops and stores! That hat was pretty cool!! The Hemisphere Park is just behind the Convention Center! We wanted to check it out! It’s actually very nice! Looking up the tower. Henry and that interesting looking dude! River Center Mall!! Three story Mall! I wanted to include this photo in to show how some hotels have upgraded! Yes, That is a flat screen television in a hotel. Never mind the assortment of Drinks!! My favorite part of the Convention is The Exhibit Hall!! Colorful Trumpets!! Coach America Tour Bus inside the Exhibit Hall!! Just in case you want to take your students to a park! This was the SpeedZone Booth!! SpeedZone located in Dallas TX. Pretty Cool!! Just to give you an idea how huge this is. It’s insanely Huge!! and this is just one large room. There actually is another on the other side! I Love this Picture! Don’t know why really. Musicians, Musicians, Musicians!!! Check out that Bass. The United States Air Force Concert Band, what a performance this was!! Beautiful Saxophones. I always wanted to play the Sax! So this is an interesting story. I was cruising the massive Exhibit Hall and I passed by this particular booth. The guy asks as I’m passing by, “Interested in Winning an ipod?” I said, “Sure”. We began talking about travel and whether or not I would be taking my students on a trip. Well…it turns out; we had something in common—Theme Park Review. How Cool is that. A moment to meet another TPR Reader and at a Music Convention! So I just wanted to give a shout out to Mark Russell and his Colleague John with Group Travel Consultants out of Orlando, FL. If you look closely you can find a Coaster in that picture!! Margarita anyone? It looks so good. Here’s me with my very first pickle Popsicle. It was Good!! Walking around Downtown! A Lovely Shot of the River Walk! I’ll close this trip report with this shot. I call this one “Waiting to Fly” Well, Thanks for checking out my Random San Antonio Music Convention Trip Report! It was a good time!!
