cprocks22 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Warning! Very photo heavy photo TR! Well for those of us in southeastern Michigan its that time of year again, time for the auto show. Specifically the North American International Auto Show, which I attended for the first time in years. Overall it was a great time, mostly because I got up early and beat 90% of the crowds. There were some very nice vendors this year which included (the more notable ones): Lamborghini, Audi, Tesla, BMW, Mini, Mercedes, VW, Fisker, Lotus, Smart, and of course the "Big Three" which for those of you not in the US include Chrysler, GM and Ford. And because reading about cars is not NEARLY as interesting as looking at pretty pictures of them, onto the pictures! P.S. There will be no pictures of any Hummer's, Escalades, or any other SUV type cars. They are not what I like at all and I did not take any pictures of them. I apologize to those who wanted to see those pictures but I didn't take them. And because Audi does have other very nice cars, here's one. Thats it for now, after the break Mini, Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, Smart and more! Seriously people, personally this is one of the nicest and most beautiful cars I have seen in my life. Engine, this thing is massive and only looks bigger in person. Interior with an annoying glare. And the main reason I came to the show, the Audi R8. And a bad picture of it at that! Next in obnoxiously priced car alley, Bentley! Which you could sit in... by invitation only. I see you JCW Mini peeking out around the corner, you'll get plenty of love in a bit! Last of the Lamborghini's for now, showing all three they had on display. I see you smart car booth! We'll get to you later. One feature I really liked was the matte paint on it, which makes it look... different in a very good way. They just look so... angry, and I LOVE it. Another highlight of the show, the closest I've ever been to a Lamborghini, and I liked it. I apologize for the blurriness but now its obnoxiously priced car time! I don't know how much this Maybach costs, but look at the fully reclining seats, laptop desk, champagne cooler and there are two video screens in there too which are hard to see. Sadly, the only picture I got of the new Dodge Challenger. They did a great job remaking this car, keeping an awesome retro feel while still having it feel modern enough for a new age. Mmm delicious Dodge Viper, in obnoxious orange for that "HEY LOOK OVER HERE!!!" look. My favorite "electric car idea" of the show, the Cadillac Converj. One of the nicest looking cars and all electric too. This, unlike the Volt, is only a concept though. Concept car, yay! One of the better looking ones too. Chevy Equinox, one of the best looking "Crossovers" there IMO. Another angle. The new Dodge Charger, not a huge fan of the car but I can appreciate it for what it is. I also think this is one of the better looking Corvettes. However because of the notorious ride I wouldn't buy it (and the $100 K price tag). ...I do like carbon fiber *in moderation* and this car uses it well. It also has a lot of speed which is great fun! Now I'm not a fan of Corvettes in general, but... First surprise of the day! The new Corvette ZR1, which is the most expensive car I sat in all day. Charging thingy for the Volt. What did you expect with the captions I'm not Robb! Very interesting car, but not my favorite of the "electric idea cars" as they came to be known. And one of the reasons I came in the first place (there will be more reasons, and better ones), the Chevy Volt. IMO I liked the old look better but I've heard it was changed due to the terrible aerodynamics of the first version. I'm a big fan of Jeep Wrangler's also, so here's a picture of one! (Don't complain about the captions cause they aren't going to be good!). Last picture of the Mustang's I promise (sorry to those who like them). Obviously this is the Mustang GT 500, and my personal favorite. Interior of a different Mustang, I believe that this is the GT Convertible version. Very nice interior, and surprisingly one of the very few with a stick shift which I found strange. Again. Not a huge fan of the hood scoop, but overall a great car. First up, the Ford Shelby Mustang. Very slick car, one of my favorites of the day. Lets start with a random picture of some random cars that apparently no one really cares about...moving on!
spaceace12 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 That zr1 is my dream car, if only I had 115k. Not a Charger, a 2010 Camaro. I think a Mybach runs around 300k or more (IIRC).
cprocks22 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Ah sorry for the mistake about the Camero, too many new Dodge cars that start with C.
cprocks22 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 Ok next part. Z4's interior, including a very nice pop up nav-screen. And with that I end this random TR, thanks for reading and please comment! One of my favorite car brands, BMW, and one of my favorite BMW cars, the Z4 roadster. Very nice car. Hmm how did that sneak in there. Is it totally obvious I'm in love with this car? Anyone wanna donate to the "Get Kevin an R8" fund? Obnoxiously large and quite ugly Mercedes, moving on. ...while on the other I think they're a pathetic excuse for a car. Smart car! I'm really torn on these cars. On one had I think they're adorable... New Prius, awesome, next. Side view of the concept, moving on now. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the classic '62 VW Bug that was in perfect condition. Das Auto! I love VW's, and here's one of their awesome concept cars. Yes I know I really need to work on the caption thing. This car made my eyes bleed. We counted 8 video screens total, at least that's all we could see. No offense meant towards anyone but I really think this what used to be Cadillac is hideous. Again with the smiling. Speaking of which, more pictures of them! Aww its adorable, its smiling at me! I've always loved Lotus' Tesla badge. I apologize for the awful captions, you can complain if you like... wont change anything though . Interior, boo automatic!! Another main reason why I wanted to come, the Tesla roadster. Very small car, much smaller then I imagined, but it looks great. For you Aston Martin fans out there. This might get me in trouble with a few people but I really just do not like Aston's, I can understand why people like them but I just don't. Overview of the Mini booth, didn't take many pictures because there wasn't really anything that exciting to me. Also despite my love for Mini's, the Mini Cooper Clubman is one of the UGLIEST cars...ever. Because I own a Mini Cooper, I felt obliged to visit the Mini booth and gawk at the new Mini's... and this one which has almost double the horsepower!
RedB Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Of course the Tesla is an automatic, it has one gear.
