rawrtotheargh Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Okay so i know that arrow did a lot to reduce the weight of the trains on X(X2). But was there ever an official number as to how much weight was actually taken off the trains? Or a before and after weight statistic Just curious. I swear i remember hearing a number somewhere.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 They reduced the weight by 20%. 20,000 lbs out of each train. http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/200805/755/
rawrtotheargh Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Thanks! That is insane. I knew they took off some weight but that is a lot more than i thought.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Woah I can't believe that either. Is there less headbanging on X also?
ebl Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 ^ I never had headbanging on X, and I haven't on X2. But there was the issue of leg banging (at least for me), and it's still a bit of an issue with the new trains. However, they did add some padding to the part that your legs rest on, so it takes a little of the pain out of a ride. Eric
Top Thrill Dragster Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Is there less headbanging on X also? Well as said above, X was never a ride that gave head banging. It was a ride that threw you body around in the restraint. With the new trains the ride is smoother, but there is an area of head banging that did not exist on X before the new trains. If you sit towards the back of the train, during the last half half it feels like some one hits you in the back of the head with a 2 by 4.
rawrtotheargh Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 I have only noticed one area of head banging and that is right after the second raven turn into the last half half. But you can avoid it by just putting your head all the way back into the head rest at the top of the second raven turn. Doing it also makes an interesting sensation when you do go through the raven turn. and i have noticed a smoother ride in the back of the train as opposed to the front. but that is just me
