Q1) Are you Male/Female?

Male

Q2) How old are you?

19

Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters?

Steel coasters

Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc…

Inverted and floorless. Because your feet hang loose.

Q5) What’s your most favourite ride?

Montu - Busch Gardens Africa

Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?)

The most powerful inversion (or helix/hill if the coaster doesn't have inversions)

Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?)

I do not find coaster scary the way regular people do. If I see a design flaw or fragile supports, then I'm getting scared.

Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before?

Less scary, yes. Less thrilling, no.

Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports)

Depends on the crossover ratio, but yes.

Q10) Themeing… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction?

If it adds to the atmosphere (cool station/area/queue) or if it makes the ride more exciting (tunnels, near misses, special effects), yes.

Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen?

A bit of both, seeing the entire layout might be a spoiler, but not seeing the rides prevents me from taking cool pictures.

Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue?

Depends per coaster. Some coasters that are short are way better than some rides that are significantly longer. But if I had to choose, I'd go with long ride/long queue.

Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters?

I like to see the OTSR's go, huge lap bars have proven to be just as safe as OTSR's. Also, I'd love to see a wooden coaster company building an inversion in a ride of theirs.

Male.

Q2) How old are you?

18.

Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters?

Wood. The 'out of control' feeling is really what I like most about coasters, and I've yet to find a steel coaster that gives that feeling.

Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc…

As said, basic sit down PTC trains with single position lapbars. They give you the most freedom and allow you to actually get airtime instead of just "feeling" it.

Q5) What’s your most favourite ride?

Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce.

Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?)

I think surprise elements, like hidden pops of airtime or unbanked turns are most thrilling to me. Aggressive elements of a ride are also thrilling to me.

Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?)

I haven't really been scared on a ride since I got into coasters, so I'm not really sure.

Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before?

Depends on the ride. Usually it's pretty consistent for me, though.

Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports)

Not sure what this means.

Q10) Themeing… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction?

I think themeing elements added to a good ride can improve the quality, but on a bad ride it really doesn't do anything for me. I also think that woods/terrain use is far better than any artificial themeing.

Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen?

I do like rides that include queue interaction, such as Kentucky Rumbler or Superman Ride of steel. However these rides are so twisted that you can't really follow what is going on, so I think it heightens anticipation. Boulder Dash and Voyage also use this, but it's a bit different. Rather than surrounding the queue in ride, they have simple flybys with the rest of the ride pretty much hidden. I think this also heightens anticipation because you really don't know what to expect, but it's still hyping the ride up.

Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue?

As said, I don't think there is any direct connection. There are many long rides with better capacity than short ones.

Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters?

Not really sure. I'm not a fan of 'gimmick' concepts like flyers, most of my favorite rides are very traditional designs. On the other hand, if there is something that could improve the design of said traditional designs, I'm all for it as long as the ride stays traditional. I've yet to ride anything with an audio/video system which seems to be the latest fad, so I can't really comment on that. If I had to, I'd be completely ignorant and say that it's a gimmick, but my opinion could definetely change after riding something with it of course.

Male

Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters?

Depends on the coaster.

Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc…

Seated coasters are nearly always better than stand-ups.

Q5) What’s your most favourite ride?

Millennium Force, Cedar Point

Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?)

Airtime and speed

Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?)

Not all that much, but I'm not big on pre-launch anticipation or ultra-high positive Gs.

Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before?

Probably

Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports)

I'm skeptical.

Q10) Themeing… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction?

Depends on the ride. Some rides would die without their theming and some would be killed with theming.

Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen?

I ususally know what's going to happen anyway and I love watching coasters go through their courses. I much prefer seeing the ride.

Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue?

I don't think there it varies directly, actually. I think it changes from ride to ride and from day to day. These days, HUGE short rides get the longest queues (see TTD, KK) and longer rides don't get as much recognition (Beast, etc.). Then again, some short rides, like your average Boomerang, don't get all that much attention anymore and some longer ones, like Maverick, constantly pull ridiculous queues.

Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters?

If anything, I'd love steel and many wood coasters to be smoother. But I like where we are right now.
