RCT3 Question

I'm trying to make a station for my coaster, but I haven't figured out how you get the roof up onto the walls. Is it that this piece is too small? (I figured it shouldn't be since it's the matching piece of the walls. I also tried turning it the other way so it was vertical and parallel with the track, and no luck) I've provided a screen shot to help show you what I mean. (I'm also having this problem with the catwalks. I can get them started at the base of the lift, but I can't get them to contiue up the hill)

If you press the shift key and move your mouse up, the piece will follow. Don't believe me, use the in game tutorials.
