costa425
I’ve heard the rumors for some time but now they’ve gone public it seems as Southern Star Amusements is officially pitching a plan to the city to take over the former Six Flags New Orleans park site to reopen it with new rides and a waterpark in time for the summer of 2009. I’m not sure just how they’ll manage to do it in just a year, but they want to spend $7 million on the first phase of the new waterpark area (a five phase $20 million project) and nearly double the number of rides in the park to 60. Given the dramatic increase in rides, I’m going to assume that a good number of these new rides may be portable models that could be brought in and set up quickly. The plan is to divide the park into five themed sections: Area 51, Tumble Weed Gulch, Cricket Creek Bog, Fort Thunder and Country Fair. The article also mentions that SSA is one of two groups in talks to take over the SFNO site, but no one is ready to say who the second group is right now. http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#SixFlags Now Nothing has been approved yet, but if it does will you go to it when it re-opens?
