jason10 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 It seems to be old news. I have searched and couldn't find it. I seriously don't believe it. I am sceptical but hey, it's good, right? Here is the BBC news report: Blackpool to go like a Rocket! Blackpool Pleasure Beach today announced that they are set to construct the first rocket roller-coaster in the UK. Blackpool Pleasure Beach today stated that they have agreed terms with two leading companies to construct the latest in roller-coaster technology. In a landmark deal between two leading roller-coaster manufacturers, they have said that this ride is going to be the tallest and fastest in the world. The two companies involved, Bolliger and Mallibard (B&M) alongside Intamin, will contruct a roller-coaster that has never been seen in the world. I will reach speeds of 120mph. It will be close to 400 feet tall, rivaling the famous landmark, Blackpool tower. It is also go 'out to sea' for nearly half a mile. The ride in pre-construction stage, will also feature 12 loops and corkscrew elements. A spokesman for the Swiss company B&M, Herman Havinalaff stated "It will be the first roller-coaster to use all the latest technology and the money that Blackpool Pleasure Beach has to spare." Construction starts on 10th November 2007 when the Southern end of the Pleasure Beach will be closed. A Pleasure Beach spokesman said "We have closed the South end of the park to allow us to remove several rides to accommodate this feat of engineering. We think that this ride will help to rejuvenate an ailing town since the fecking Government scuppered the plans for a super casino earlier this year."
