NiggZ Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Hey im new to this forum, and came along it and looks like it will help me I hope. Well i plan to go over to Japan with my mates around New years time and early Jan 2009. Was wonder what are the best theme/amusement parks to go to in Tokyo around that area with not to far to travel, prefrably with lots of roller coasters.? sorry if this isnt in the correct section.. Thanks Ryan
SharkTums Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Tokyo area for most coasters: Fuji Q Yomiuriland Nasu Highland Toshimaen Tobu Zoo La Qua Disney Keep in mind that several of these parks could have rides down due to snow or freezing weather during that time. Also transportation and several businesses will be closed.
NiggZ Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 Thanks.. anyone you recommend over the others..??
SharkTums Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 It really depends on what you like the most. Unique rides, nice stuff, just amount of coasters, what?
Yankee cannonball Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I would say keep away from FujiQeue at all costs. the lines can hit 3 or 4 hours, and none of the coasters are particularly good. now, if you were going for credits, I would tell you it has some coasters people randomly find to be amazing, that make "impressive" credits. but since you're going with your friends, I am advising you not to go, because you will all go home with sore feet, and there's a chance your mates will beat you senseless for a crappy trip.
BarryH Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 ^Unless you really need the credits, I would skip Fuji-Q. It's not worth standing in line all day to get 3-4 credits. It's best to invest the $ in an extra day at Disney or even go to Universal Studios Japan.

So you've been there?
therooboy Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Fuji Queue is a good park, but yes, lines are horrid. However i rode all but one ride when i visited and thats because i dedicated the last 3 hours to queue & reride Eeajanaika. Get there in time for opening then you can ride Eejanaika within 30 minutes and beat the crowd to Dodonpa. Then do Fujiyama (which had 1-1.5 hour wait all day we visited). By lunch you have done the 3 majors and can now fit in all the rest, like Zola 7. One thing i learnt in Japan. It is perfectly fine to have one person queue for a ride and your friends are permitted to join them whenever they want. So if someone doesn't ride something you are on get them to start queueing for another ride. Its done quite alot at Fuji Q. Anyhow i liked Fuji Q. Would go there again. On the other parks the Disneys are a must. Laqua & Yomiuriland spend half a day at each and ride Bandit lots. Tobu Zoo has 2 good coasters now, i'd check that one out too. All these ones are easy and quick to get too.
