TopThrill182 Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice for a Spring Break Texas trip. I am planning on venturing up to Texas for a trip during the last two weeks of March. Originally, I was planning on visiting just the San Antonio area including Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Sea World San Antonio, and other area attractions. Then I realized how I've always wanted to go to Schlitterbahn, but the only one open is the one in Galveston. This led me to thinking that perhaps I should add on a leg of the trip elsewhere in Texas (Houston, down by Galveston, etc). I was wondering if anyone had advice for amusement parks/ water parks/ etc in the area? I would be mainly be focussing on San Antonio, and then perhaps traveling to Houston, Austin, or Dallas/Ft. Worth. I am open to suggestions for any amusement park related attractions, along with a few more specific questions. 1.) Most weather sources say the temperature in San Antonio and the surrounding area during the last two weeks in March is in the upper/mid 70's, but it doesn't appear that any outdoor water parks are open during this time. Can anyone confirm this? 2.) Is it worth going to the indoor section of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island? From the pics it looked to be a somewhat small indoor water park, but the information is somewhat limited on the place. I know the other two outdoor parks get rave reviews. How much is there to do here, and would it satisfy a half day? 3.) Any SFFT advice? Definitely looks worth a visit but I don't know if there is anything I should be aware of about this park (hints, etc)? 4.) Any Sea World San Antonio advice (time of visit, etc)? Again its all somewhat flexible at this point, so I'm open to any other suggested itineraries. Kemah Boardwalk for example, worth a trip just for Boardwalk Bullet? Thanks in advance for your help! texcoaster Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Spring Break will be crowded. Period. Even Kemah will have lines for Bullet during SB, which doesn't happen any other time. Usually, the coaster is a walk-on, but they are predicting hour-plus waits for Bullet during SB. That said, YES, Bullet is worth a trip down there. It's easily the best woodie in the state. If you add Schlitterbahn Galveston, then even more reason to go. The two parks are only about a half hour apart. SchlitterGal is NOT like your regular Schlitterbahn. The New Braunfels version is incredible, amazing, fantastic, insane, and any other superlative you can think of. It simply blows away every other waterpark on earth, not just for the rides, but because of its unique setting and atmosphere. It's easily a two-days-and-I-still-didn't-see-everything park. SchlitterGal is much more like your everyday sort of waterpark. Small, a few good slides, and a pretty cool wave river. Nothing worth jumping up and down about, really, even though they do have a boogiebahn that opens when it's warm enough. If SFOT will be open when you're here, it's totally worth the effort to get there. Good variety of coasters and a very well-run park.
Flippero95 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Any Sea World San Antonio advice (time of visit, etc)? Go ride all the rides during the evening Shamu show. The whole park is like a ghost town then. I'm sure their waterpark section will be closed, but that's OK, it's so not worth it. Also, all last summer they ran a coupon for 2 days for the price of 1. That way, if crowds are a concern, you can take your time. Have fun visiting our great state!
