Here is how to get around the "unable to find engine file" message.

Within the Virtual Rides 'program files' directory, Create a new text file and copy and paste the following text in to it (then save) :

acknex_dx8.exe vr.wrs -D DX_8 -D language_english -D demo -nx 128

Rename the file to "start.bat" Double click on the "start.bat" file and the game should automatically load and run fine.

The Tranformer and Top Spin demo can be found here - http://www.gamershell.com/download_8134.shtml

The 'Insider' (aka. Crazy Shake) demo can be found here - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=67I5W8IE

NOTE - you can add your own sound effects and music in to each directory. For the TRANSFORMER/TOPSPIN demo, drag any music file (i.e. MP3, WAV etc.) in to here - C:\VirtualRides No.1 Demo #1\music

For the INSIDER demo, copy and paste up to 12 (I think) music files in to the game directory and rename them to jingle_1 (right through to 12.) To play each file whilst playing the game, hit F1 for jingle 1, F2 for jingle 2 etc. etc.

Have fun!!!

PS. Not too sure how long the megaupload.com link will last or if there is a user download 'cap'.... Let me know if there are any problem and I'll try to upload to another server.

da1daonly - if you install the update (see link above) and follow the instructions I gave previously, it should work fine.

Again, if your trying to install Virtual Rides on Vista then I seriously doubt it will work (unless you can fiddle with the 'program compatibility' settings or something?!?)

hi, i didn't find a thread so i pull out this old one, because i think the new "Virtual Rides No1" Simulations are made from the same guys... so there are 3 new simulators of flat-rides. They look good, but i hoped that something like this would be combined with no-limits someday, but if you are intrested go on http://www.virtual-rides.com/.

There are three videos of the rides:

Krake:

FlyingCircus:

XForce:
