top thrill Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 now ive just read about 3d and smoother programs all this sounds confusing to me can some one help me !!!!! !!!!(sorry for being stupidly thick and not clued up)!!!!!
Mr.Six Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Okay, No Limits is the actual Roller Coaster Editor AKA: Builder It also includes the Simulator. Now, some people on and off the no limits team have built a lot of programs that can delete pumps, bumps, and some programs can heartline elements. Now all these programs are for the PC only. No Limits requires a ton of time to get good at it. I've had it for almost a year now and I still can't build a pump free track. However I'm also on a mac so I can't get any of the smoothing programs. A site that you should visit is Coastersims.com They can help you from start to finish on a coaster. Somtimes No Limits comes easier to other than some. For me it took around 5 months to learn it all. But like I said before; I still can't built a great track. BiCoastal Kid Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Yeah, if you want a site with the best people on it, go to CoasterSims.com I'm over there and all, have been for a while, and I've seen a lot of people's tracks start out crappy and then get better with advice and such. About NoLimits though, if you don't have the patience to actually sit down and shape every piece of track, then buying it prolly isn't the best idea. However, if you want to just ride coasters that others have built, NoLimits is the highest quality and most widely used coaster simulator/editor out right now. Either way you win. The tools, as mentioned, are the new "wave" you could say in NL. There are math programs, which can pump out perfect elements(A guy at CoasterSims is currently developing a newer version of his that will allow you to create the entire layout first and then alter heights in the same program. It will use clothoids too, which is nice!), but you have to be a freaking whizz, or just play around with numbers like I do for now, haha. There is a track smoother, but it doesn't work out pumps, but smooth out major jerks in the track, but often distorts your track to weird ways that you don't necessarily want. The Heartline Tool is nice as well, but the problem most people have is with the inputs, but once you understand where to get those from it's probably the best way to make a smoothly heartlined track. The thing with it is that you have to build your track to put into the program, leaving ample spacing for smooth banking transitions, and not using any heartlines so that your bankings don't get over exaggerated. All in all, NoLimits is a pretty solid offer. It does take some practice, but once you get used to it it's actually pretty simple to play around with. It's worth the money alone to be able to ride all the rides out for it and such.
DenDen Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Yeah, if you want a site with the best people on it, go to CoasterSims.com But unfortunately, the web master is an amateur, (took us months for him/her to support firefox properly) and the log in procedures are ridiculous. I just went there, and my account "expired". So they have this form to fill out, and it constantly fails. What's the point on keeping such close tabs on people? Apparently he needs a class in how to run a web site, and how to secure it from troublemakers.
Guest Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I wouldn't bother with Coaster Sims It's a real pain in the arse web site everytime you visit you have to get you hand re-stamped. you might want to visist weeweeslap.com a much more friendly place
coasterdude5 Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Yeah, weeweeslap.com is real better than coastersims.com
BiCoastal Kid Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I highly disagree, but what ever. To each their own. I'm just saying that the community as CoasterSims has more experienced people, including pretty much all of the developers of both the game and the tools.
Mind Eraser Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Yeah, I was gonna say, CoasterSims can be a pain in the ass to deal with, but the tracks submitted are far superior to WeeWeeSlap's. -kip-
BiCoastal Kid Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 ^Far superior. And the improvement rate there is insane.
