Given I had 4 tickets left to use by the end of the year I made plans to visit Canobie. I went alone since every one else is busy. I ended up leaving at 10:00 and got to the park at 11:15 just after opening. The parking lot was already ¾ full when I arrived. Since I had my ticket I just walked right in with no delay.

The first thing I noticed is that the park got the new cover over the claw game and the photo cart has been set up to the left. They still have room for another addition between the two. They also added new fencing around it that looks great.

My first ride of the day was Frisbee. The Queue was full. So I hoped in line and 30 minutes later I was riding. I talked to a Family in back of me that had traveled from RI. Canobie seemed to the RI destination spot today because I ran into 3 other Families that have traveled from RI to spend the day. The ride was operating a program Similar to Tomahawk. Solid ride with good forces! The girl sitting next to me had never been on one before and was a bit freaked out. The park also moved the Speakers onto the scaffolding but you still couldn’t hear then on the ride while it was running.

Since I was by myself and didn’t have to make anyone wait I hoped on Corkscrew. I normally end up skipping it. The coaster was running pretty good this year. Some shaking heading into the first corkscrew but smoothed out after that. Much better then last year! They switched over to the black train this year which could be part of the reason.

I jumped on the Dragon coaster on my way to so Boston Tea Party since I was hot. I hoped in line 20 minute wait at that point but I got to skip 2 cars filling a single spot. The line moved quickly and I talked to a family who were at the park for the very first time, already good opinions. They were up form Worchester.

I hoped on Ocean trip since it had just been repaired and reopened. The ride is running so much better. Smooth movement and you get some solid sensations now. Well worth a ride. it is a Family attraction and not really thrilling but very enjoyable.

Call it a strange goal but I wanted to get pics of all the games in the park. So a bit of time was spent doing that. Many of the games have been rehabbed over the last few years and the booths repainted this year. The park has less then 30 games which isn’t too bad. The games should ever outnumber the rides in my opinion. I even spent some time playing them. I played Video Poker in the jackpot and Skeeball at the main skeeball building.

The Canobie Mall also received some addition this year. On top of a larger Men’s room and the New Gables Grill eatery the park added 3 games to the Mall.

They also added a new Ramp for wheel chair and stroller access to the mall form the side.

The day was extremely busy. I didn’t get on much. Between shows I tried to hit rides. After watching a first set I made rides a bit more of a priority. I got in line for Mine of Lost Souls. On after an hour wait. This is were I meet up with one of the RI visitors I talked about earlier.

I hoped on Pirata with a 3 cycle wait. The ride is operating much better then the last few years. Though the Quality of ride Suffers do to a bad Cycle. 2-3 more full height swings would make a huge deference with this ride. At 45 riders a load I don’t see how it could hurt either.

I walked along the back and Castaway had a line of People waiting to get in. I hate the idea of Canobie having a water park but they need to do something. A few more High capacity attractions couldn’t hurt.

I continued to walk the park skipping rides since the lines were long. Gave up and Hopped in line for Cannonball. It was about an hour wait the 2nd CL5 show was going taking place on the midway stage. I talked to a couple teens to make the time in line go faster. They were very found of Canobie over other local parks which always make me feel good. The ride was running smooth and fast. I got a back seat ride which is always a plus. Star blaster was next on the list. 30 minute wait but I got to skip a bit filing an open spot.

There were no short lines. So I opted to have Dinner. Since I was eating alone I opted to go a bit more extravagant then Pizza. I went back to the Dancing Bear in the Far back of the western area. Took 10 minutes to get in and order. I got the Petit Rib Dinner with Stack fries and a refill of Soda. Cost me $11.00 Dollars. Since it was cook to order I watched the Soul man show again this time with Dan Sky not as good as the first show. That got over in time for me to get utensils and sit down before my food was out. Good food, 6 reasonably sized beef ribs, Cup of Very good BBQ sauce, a good portion of Stack fries, and coleslaw which I don’t eat. I enjoyed my meal a lot.

This Photo Booth used to be located in kiddie land.

Lines were still bad so I Simply made my way back to The Dance hall and got a seat for Fly. After fly I talked to Chad and his Family. After that I walked around looking for a slow line. This didn’t happen. Lines were so bad on the eastern side of the park even Vertigo Theater has a 1 cycle wait.

It was dark and I just needed to buy some time before the Fireworks at 9:30 that night. Iran into a few managers and Asked if the park was going to stay open an extra hour which it was. I brought up a few more Concerns with the games. I then watched the beginning of the last cl5 show. I actually only wanted to see the lasers.

Before the fireworks I got another refill and fried Dough. That Ran me $5.25 total. Not too shabby. I got a good Spot by a barrel planter right at the rope so I could see the fireworks.

After the fireworks guests were leaving in droves. I ran into Carl Berni and talked to him allot about the park. We discussed both present ride and Shows. We also talked a bit about coasters and companies. After talking to him I hit Skater, Caterpillar, and since Cannonballs like had been Closed I Slid into Star blasters line right as the attendance shut the gate.

After a great ride on Star blaster I walked slowly to the front grabbed some night shots. Before I left for the night I walked out of the Gate at 11:25 and there were still around 100-150 people waiting for the shuttle busses. The Park has an alternate lot they use on busy weekends and bus guest back and forth. Busses arrive every 15 minutes.

Overall it was a fantastic day. I got to see the shows, talk to allot of people form all over New England, and hit a few rides. It was hot and very crowded but it was my 3rd Trip and I have at least 2 more coming. I personally like seeing days this busy shows there doing something right to pull that kind of crowds. A great day and I can’t wait to get back.
