pinkcakepartyfavors Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Hey people! I imagine that all of you are experts on the horror that I call "stomach feeling," that horrific sensation you get on hills/drops/airplanes. First, do you actually get stomach feeling on airplanes? And more importantly, other than screaming, how does a person who hates stomach feeling more than being set on fire relieve these sensations? PLEASE HELP ME OR I'LL DIE!!
edh Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 When I went on an airplane before, I never really felt anything. Are you flying? If your really afraid of anything, I would think just closing your eyes and breathe slowly would probably help. This may help. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/Motion-Sickness-Treatment-Overview
pinkcakepartyfavors Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 Yes, I am flying for the first time, and people keep telling me that taking off and landing are both horrific and full of stomach feeling.
Guest Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Taking off and landing are very easy to deal with. Just relax and read a book or magazine. You might want to take a Dramamine tablet to relax a little if you get motion sick. Slow deep breathing will help, close your eyes if you don't want to read and think of where you are going. Also, you might want to try chewing gum during take off and landing. It will help you pop your ears to stabilize the pressure. Just relax and have fun.
IceDragon Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I'm guessing you mean airtime... If so, on planes it's usually rare to get it, but if you should, hold on to the arm rests, clench your fists around them, clench your teeth and close your eyes. The only way I know how to get rid of the fear is to persuade yourself to like it. Think of something good when you experience it and it should go.
krouvi Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 When you start to feel it, just take a big breath and close your eyes think that this is only a temporary feeling for few seconds. I guess you don't like coasters but you know what, in order to learn how to deal with this feeling you can go on some "little" coasters and practice deep breathing, so the next time on a flight you will know what to do.
texashorns82492 Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 The worst part of flying is taking off for me, but I don't necessarily get the stomach feeling. I get that on some rollercoaster drops though.
Golfie Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Flying is one of the most mild things you'll ever do... it's the same as accelerating in a car. The only "stomach feeling" you have is while landing - even if it does occur, the sensations are miniscule and just feel like you're jumping. When the plane first lands on the runway, it's a little rough, but nothing bad at all. Your friends don't know what they're talking about!
