HAYASHI Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 i miss BART (i moved to socal from the bay). but now im sure its hell during rush hours.
chmilo24 Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 ^ Actually, no one uses BART. I always use it whenever i go Giants games and that is usually the time it is mildly busy. The last time it was crazy was when that interchange collapsed and it was free. But yea, if you live over in the Bay, and your not using it, you better. I used to wait 30 min sometimes to go over the Bay Bridge, but with BART it is only like 5 min. That Trans-Bay underwater tunnel thing is great.
Angry_Gumball Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 The Transbay tube thingy is kinda creepy...I mean, the lights in our Bart train were flickering, the screeching sounds that the wheels made, and it had this cold feeling to it...not so much of the AC, but just had this cold vibe to it. I've only ridden through the tube twice, (Round trip to SF). I just wish that Bart lines were extended directly, or atleast a few blocks from Great Ameria and Marine World...I mean Discovery Kingdom. As far as the freeway, as you guys know, the lower portion opened but I'm wondering how much damage was actually done and overlooked just to keep costs down.
joel0613 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I was in Nor Cal most of the week and had to drive from Oakland to Windsor and back. I just drove back today and I have to say... the traffic was really not bad going either way. they have the bottom level open already and the top should be done by June 1st. It did look pretty cool close up...
chmilo24 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I heard that they were thinking making BART go across the new Bay Bridge.
HAYASHI Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Actually, no one uses BART i was referencing rush hours durring the morning hours going to work and during the traffic hours getting off work. i used to take bart everday (fremont - SF) to go to school and work, and during those hourse A LOT of ppl use bart. there would be no where to sit and ppl crowded, standing in the isles. there were days when train traffic interrupted the whole line and there would be lines crowded in the many stations. so its safe to say, a LARGE margin of the Bay uses Bart during the real rush hours. with the early affects of the freeway collapse, my friends informed me of how bad morning rush hour was. as far as the new bay bridge and bart utilizing the path should be just a wild rumor. financially it is way too much money to install tracks on the new bridge and find a way to get tracks on the other half of the sf side of the bay bridge. space is of course a factor, and no real room for 2 tracks. on top of that, Bart is trying to get funding into retrofitting most of its lines and existing tracks, including the tunnel while saving millions of dollars into extending their lines to san jose, and the lines in the contra costa area. they wont put the tunnel to waste. although scary at times if there's an earthquake, i just close my eyes and wait the 5 mins of screaching rails till it hits the embarcadero station. =]
chmilo24 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Well it really depends what station and where your headed, when I use it, I usually take Pittsburg to Embarcadero and ride my skateboard the rest of the way to wherever I'm going, but it is mostly to Giants games.(GO SF GIANTS!!!!)
