Brass Guitar Picks?

Geeze, I hope this doesn't get locked.

Anyway, I was just browsing the net, and I saw an article on how to make brass guitar picks from an old drum cymbal. I'm thinking about making some for some of my friends who play the guitar. Maybe for the holidays, or a birthday.

If you do have one, do you like it?

I also hear it wears your strings really fast, is there any truth to that? I want to know if they would be worth it before I decide to buy a used cymbal, and make one.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's really not a good idea to use metal on your guitar strings. The brass of the cymbal will be much harder than the metal (or even worse, nylon) of the guitar strings, and will cause them to wear quickly and/or break.

It might be a fun project to do, and just put the picks on display. As a music teacher and guitar player though, I wouldn't recommend using them to actually play.
