GMAN962
Geeze, I hope this doesn't get locked. Anyway, I was just browsing the net, and I saw an article on how to make brass guitar picks from an old drum cymbal. I'm thinking about making some for some of my friends who play the guitar. Maybe for the holidays, or a birthday. If you do have one, do you like it? I also hear it wears your strings really fast, is there any truth to that? I want to know if they would be worth it before I decide to buy a used cymbal, and make one. Thanks! -Mike
niiicolaaah
Yeah, it's really not a good idea to use metal on your guitar strings. The brass of the cymbal will be much harder than the metal (or even worse, nylon) of the guitar strings, and will cause them to wear quickly and/or break. It might be a fun project to do, and just put the picks on display. As a music teacher and guitar player though, I wouldn't recommend using them to actually play. chmilo24
Yea, you shouldn't use them, there very good to put designs on them and show them off, but don't use them. I have gotten a lot of cuts from my strings snapping and whipping me with those stupid picks.
