Vekoma Fan Boy Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 It's not much, its just a mini B&M hyper I used to practice smooth trackwork and AHG. I know it has no supports nor color, this was just an attempt to get a decent result with AHG, which I feel I got. And please don't say anything about the small hill before the final turn, I know its messed up, but I let it slide because everything else was good. AHG-Practice.nltrack Track...
texashorns82492 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 This is just my opinion, but I hate it when people have lifts right after the station, and brakes that slope down straight into the station. But it was a pretty simple design. I'm not going to comment on the AHG stuff because I'm not expert on it.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Yeah, as I said it was only to practice with ahg.
coasterlover420 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 A good thing to keep in mind is that the AHG doesn't smooth your track for you, you need to do that before sending it through. You don't have to bank it, but the transitions should be fluid. I suggest using the Y and ctrl+G commands a lot.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 ^I know it doesn't smooth the track, I still wonder where that rumor got started... My goal was to get a semi-decent result, and I'm happy, could be better, but I'm happy.

It's just my opinion, but that's a really retarded thing to hate. Anyway, I think your main problem is getting the track smooth BEFORE you AHG. There were some odd kinks int here that will only be caused by trying to AHG a flawed track. You seem to understand how the AHG works, now you need to elarn how to shape your track FOR the AHG.

Apparently the in-editor smoother sucks... But could you name some of the kinks? (Once again aside from the last hill...) I'm not that good at spotting minute pumps...
BiCoastal Kid Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 1. Directly after the lift, I believe this is where you transferred from hand built to ahg. Banking ton that turn is very sudden, a short straight sec tion would help a ton. 2. Your entire first drop has lots of weird bends and kinks in it. 3. Entering the turn after the first drop there's a small kind entering the banking. 4. Entering the turn after the camel back. 5. Whatever that banked hill thing was before the last turn. The in-editor track smoothers works, but just like AHG you have to have your nodes placed correctly to where it will smooth correctly, otherwise it will just bend them to make it fluid AT the nodes, and thus it may actually cause pumping.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted April 22, 2007 Author Posted April 22, 2007 ^ Thank you, that is very helpful! I'll look into that.
