RollerC Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 A Season Pass to Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom just got wetter and better! The popular amusement and waterpark has announced that it will be offering swim lessons this summer for its Season Passholders. This summer, kids ages 3-10 who have a Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom Season Pass will have the opportunity to learn how to swim from the park’s experienced lifeguard staff. http://www.geaugalake.com/_upload/glswimlessons.pdf Also, last week, Bill Sphen visited a community center and one of the members of Geauga Guide was there and asked him some questions: As you all know, Bill came to my neighborhood. He came to talk about business and how to run such a large park. Luckily, only 5 people showed up so I had a nice conversation with the GM. I will split the questions up into sections based on the subject. Head Spin's new Paint Job When I asked him about the new job, he said that they may possibly call the job off due to time constraints. I quote, " It has not been decided yet if we will continue the job as scheduled or not." New Park buyout days Former Globetrotter's player, Derek Polk, will be having a buyout day sometime in June. This will be like the Cleveland Clinic Weekend. His all-star team will be facing Kenny Crumpton's Fox 8 team in the Area where the Cheerfest was located. (sorry, I couldn't get the name.) This day will be busy because of all the festivities. Funnel Cakes: A higher Quality If you ever had a funnel cake, you probably realized, "Hey, This is precooked!" All that they've done was placed a precooked funnel cake into the oil for 10 seconds, then sugar it and put it on the plate. This year, we will be making the funnel cakes from scratch, just like in Oktoberfest. No More 'Kamanfolk' Kaman's, or the main gate photo placed has now been replaced with Kodak. This is in place for all Cedar Fair Parks. Cribs: Jukebox Style Not Much info on this subject. Look for a cleaned up placed with more 50's to it. This Years focus is on... Profit. Last year he said was the year that Geauga Lake made it's turnaround. This year will be focused on profit while next year's focus is on the rides side. He said he could not say anymore about the subject due to some kind of regulations. It makes me excited and hopeful about the park's outlook. That's about it. If I remember anything else, I will add to it. Thank you for your time. Timmy B.
carolinacaniac Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 So does that mean that last year they made a profit? or was he just saying figurativly speaking they turned around? Either way it counds like they are doing some good things to help ease the "pain" if you will, of removing two big coasters. Sounds like 2008 could be a promising year if things go well. I hope it does, I really liked Geagua Lake.
Masked_Maverick Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hopefully Geauga Lake is my homepark and i would love to see what Cedar Fair has in store for it. I am waitng for the Naysayers to shut their mouths and learn that Cedar Fair actually knows a thing or two on how to run an amusement park.
FlyingScooter Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Having swim lessons is a great idea. I can't think of any other park that does that.
