verticalzero Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I want to add a straight through exhaust for my PT Cruiser (make it louder and have more power). I visited my local MOT Centre today and asked them if I really need to have a "Cat" on my car. They replied: A Diesel car Test is basically a smoke test, and as long as your smoke levels are within limits and whatever you put on doesn't result in excessive noise, your vehicle should not fail on those items. But KEEP the original cat and fittings, Just in-case Diesel Smoke Emissions There appears to be some concerns over the testing of smoke emissions in cars with diesel engines. This part of the test has been developed so it does not harm a well-maintained diesel engine. The tester will ask you questions about your car's maintenance and history, particularly the engine. This is to enable the tester to ascertain you car's suitability for this part of the test, and he may refuse to carry out the MOT test if there is a risk of damaging your engine. Test stations are not permitted to ask you to sign a disclaimer. --------------------------------------------------------- This is great news if you want to get more power from your diesel car. Now I need to find a "Dump Valve" so I can hear the woooosh of the turbo. Your thoughts:
FlyingScooter Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Wow, I didn't even know they made a diesel PT Cruiser. Good luck with it. http://www.summitracing.com/ I'm not sure if they ship out of the US.
