pticrunch Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Hi everybody ! I live in France. With some friends, we are planning a trip to Florida next may (from the 22th to the 31st). Is it the appropriate period to visit the parks ? Actually, we wonder whether it is a school holidays period and whether the parks will be crowded or not. If so, should we rather go at the end of April ? Thanks a lot for your answers. Bonjour de Paris !
Rocker_Dude Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Lemme go check my school schedule. Hmm, I can't seem to find my agenda. Lemme check the web, ahh nothing. I'll tell you on Monday evening after I get my agenda out of my locker. Oh and by the way the next Florida day off is the 19th. 20th is a sat. 21st. Sunday then 22nd we're back in school. The parks will be packed on the weekends. The end of April is our spring break here so don't do that. I think the 22nd to the 31st is fine.
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I thought most spring breaks in Florida start in Early March and nearly all are done by the week after Easter? I think Late April may be better considering by Late May a lot of schools are out, and you'll be there during Memorial Day Weekend which can be busy. Both times should be plenty manageable though.
pticrunch Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks for your answers ! Rocker_Dude, I'll wait for your agenda schedule . What month is the day off you were talking about ? I'm not sure I was really clear about that : we plan to go from the 22nd to the 31st of May. On the web, I just found out that school will end on the 22nd of May. Is it true ?
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Yeah, I don't know what Rocker Dude was talking about but I just checked Orange County Public Schools and they get out of school May 22nd. Also, like I thought their Spring Break is in March. I renew my choice of April being better...I wouldn't come in before the 20th though...just because of random Easter Spring Breaks which can be going on still.

Correction: for public schools [not colleges], its always the last week of March/first week of April.
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Yeah exactly....so if you take colleges, private schools, and public schools altogether, you'll find that Spring Breaks run from Early March to Mid April!
BarryH Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Actually, I went to the Magic Kingdom during Memorial Day a few years ago and the crowds weren't too bad. The Saturday and Sunday of that weekend were pretty busy, though.
Rocker_Dude Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Thats wierd. Here in Florida they told us that spring break is in Beginning to Mid April. I hate what they did with the schools schedules. They make it so hard to understand because Today I am off school and same with Friday but no one knew till 2 days ago. It wasnt in our calendars or school schedules. But dang I don't know whats going on All I know is that lake county has some serious issues with school schedules. So please disregard my post. Hey Barry I went to Epcot and MgM on memorial day and they were packed. Also yeh late April should be good because everyone will be back in school. But make sure its later april like past the 20th cuz I know there is spring break in some part of APRIl.
texashorns82492 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I went in mid-March last year and the crowds were fine.
BarryH Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Hey Barry I went to Epcot and MgM on memorial day and they were packed. Maybe you should have went to MK instead.

thecoasterkid Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I will be in the Disney World area with family during the same period of time. We'll be arriving on Friday May 18th and we'll be leaving on Sunday May 27th. In the past I've used this guide (www.touringplans.com/tp2/UG2_index.php?PageID=14) as a general clue to how crowded the parks will be. It gives you a breakdown of the estimated crowd levels on a daily basis on a scale of 1-10 (1 being low crowds, 10 being high). It used to be a free guide, but now apparently they want some sort of subscription. With that said though it still gives you a month outlook for free, and tells you what parks are best to go to on certain days. From what I remember the crowd levels rated between a 6-9 with the majority of days falling in the 7 and 8 range. Also, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 releases during that week and there are certain special events going on at the parks to celebrate. I'm not expecting crowds to be too bad, about 45-60 minutes for the biggest attractions. I'm also planning on going to Universal Orlando one day (hoping to do both parks in one day) during my vacation since I've never been to Islands of Adventure before. There is a chance that I might get to go to Busch Gardens Africa as well because we're flying out of Tampa thanks to Air Miles.
