christianscoasters Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Ok, I found this digimation site and found some very realistic models including a Vekoma roller skater. I have never heard about this or even knew it was a site. When I first saw this, I wondered if it was real because a lot of it was computer renditions. Has anybody here purchased them? Or is there anything else about them? (I searched for digi mation and didn't find anything. I hope this hasn't been discussed) Here is the link: (just search for roller coaster) http://www.digimation.com/home/index.html
Coaster Sim. Fan Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 From what i get those are all models for 3D programs not actually modals you build. So unless your in to 3D modeling or animation there basically useless to you. For those of you that don't know OBJ is a fairly common 3D file format.
christianscoasters Posted December 10, 2006 Author Posted December 10, 2006 How pointless is a 3D model? Those are outrageous prices. I wouldn't pay over $600 (for most) for a computer model!
Coaster Sim. Fan Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Well it all depends if your in to 3D modeling / animation then it might be worth it. but that site is probably mostly set up with high end models for people that actually make money off there work. So instead of spending the time to lets say make there own ride (if there doing something park relate) they will go out and buy the modal already made to save them selves the time of making it them selves.
Gnome Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 they're more like time savers for people who want a model, but don't have the time to build them, so they'll buy which ever specified models they need which suit the needs for the current project thier working on, then organize them into w/e fashion they choose. Or at least that's the only reason why I would ever buy one of those things.
