  1. Thank you to everyone who voted for my pics in this contest. Also, thanks to everyone who submitted a pic, there were so many great and different ideas. Evangeline Lilly- as always, a joy and a pleasure. Sausages- well, the virtual ones are ok, sadly I don't have the enzymes for the real thing. Thanks again, and I hope Yeti Ball continues to have adventures around the globe.
  2. This one is not for the contest either, but will be my final morph (I hope.) Yeti Ball is just so inspiring. I'm very impressed with the variety of pics here. Hopefully someday soon I'll get to meet Yeti Ball on Expedition Everest and see if he lives up to the hype. Oompah Loompah Doompadi Doo!
  3. Here's another quicky- wanted to do one that was somewhat theme park related. Source pic is from Mousetimes. This pic is not for the contest- just couldn't resist doing it.
  4. Had to try a quick one and I couldn't resist when I found this image. This one is not for the contest. So far, I have to say my favorite is the Vanity Fair cover, followed by the Tribbles, and then Mr. Garrison's new puppet pal.
  5. Here's a few parks from my youth in the Northeast. Paragon Park: What had once been New England's answer to Coney Island was a rotting shell of it's former self when I got to it. Still, it had one of the top roller coasters in the world (now moved to Maryland) and the awesome Bermuda Triangle dark boatride. The carousel has survived as a landmark and still operates today complete with ring grabs for free rides. The once mighty roller coaster is now a huge condo tower. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=17&ll=42.269084,-70.855272&spn=0.005335,0.010868&t=k Rocky Point Park: This park had an amazing log flume ride. Towards the end they added a basic steel corkscrew coaster, but also charged extra to ride (fifty cents I believe.) Other than that, mostly just a bunch of spinning flat rides, but really the best park Rhode Island had to offer (can't think of another.) http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=17&ll=41.68937,-71.367187&spn=0.005384,0.010868&t=k Lincoln Park: What I would consider to be my "home" park as we made it there every year when I was a child. Really the perfect local park with a good mix of everything to satisfy everyone. The coaster still stands and as I understand it, is for sale- please buy it! http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=41.636711,-71.041846&spn=0.005388,0.010868&t=k&om=1
  6. Wow, I never thought I'd see my old high school in a Theme Park Review trip report (see giant soul-crushing complex in the background of the first pic.) I haven't been there in years. Every year the Brockton Fair seemed to get a little smaller- now at least half of what it had been. If you're itching to visit Brockton (City of Champions!) why not also check out the thrilling E-Ticket that is the shoe museum: http://www.brocktonma.com/bhs/shoe.html
  7. This topic has me thinking that perhaps what we need is some sort of national intensity rating (since every other form of entertainment is rated these days.) Every ride in the US could be graded with a number between 1 and 10 and this number would be displayed somewhere at each attraction. This would help especially with attractions where the ride system itself isn't a visible threat of its own. Over time as people become more used to the numbers they would be able to judge new rides off of experiences with previous ones. For example: "The Tilt a Whirl rates a six and that was too much for me, so I'll sit out Mission Space since it also gets a six." What do you guys think?
  8. Well, this is my first post, and I wish I could rememeber exactly where it was. I rode a boomerang in the US that did exactly what is shown in the video. After returning we rolled back and forth through the station multiple times, presumably to burn off the energy. I had only been on this type of coaster once or twice, so I didn't find it strange, but rather a cool ending to such a short ride. The rapidfire clacking of the brakes is a bit unnerving though. I want to say it was Hersheypark in PA, but I'm not 100% sure. If it was Hershey, then this was back around 1998. Anyway, thanks for such an excellent site and enjoy the rest of your trip.
