  1. Honestly, while we definitely need more rides and coasters to just fill the park out more, what I believe is more important right now is also just general maintenance. Paint, gardening, general cleaning and renovations. Coasters and flat rides are cool, but a dirty and run down looking park isn't going to attract people to spend money. I'm also going to throw out a suggestion, they could take a page from Holiday World and expand the water park using that basically abandoned parking lot. Create one big spread out water park line they do. Add a second wave pool which could be smaller and maybe isn't as intense. Could of thriller water rides, maybe even a water coaster.
  2. I imagine it's exactly the same ride, just different paint. Six flags has a history of buying multiple of the same ride and spreading them out over their parks over 2-3 years. Maybe they get a discount buying in bulk or something.
  3. I have to admit, the thought of it swinging over the lagoon is absolutely thrilling to me. It would be a lovely view.
  4. Going in Dragon Wings old spot makes a ton of sense. It'll fill that section of the park nicely. But that still leaves the spot by tidal wave, and really that whole section of park, incredibly empty and neglected.
  5. I just wanna say, I totally called a Discovery model going into that spot. I'll take my cookie please.
  6. And I thought I did a lot of complaining about the park. Old man yells at Carousel progress.
  7. Well looks like I'll need to eat my hat. It might be a family coaster but it's still a coaster.
  8. Is the giant discovery the most comparable model to what Xcalibur was? They make four different discovery models, I honestly don't know which one is most comparable. I think only one of them has a full 360 degrees of travel, and that's the revolution version, which at first glance seems like a drop in replacement. But I could be woefully wrong.
  9. Super girl is an Endeavor. I think you're referring to one of the Discovery models from Zamperla. Which, would actually make a ton of sense to go there, considering Xcalibur has a similar support design. I would say I doubt one would go there, however, they got rid of highland fling and replaced it with super girl, which is just an updated version of the enterprise sooo, honestly, 9 to 5 and pick em at this point. After the lot sits for 5-10 years first, of course.
  10. What makes it even worse is it's one of three flat rides (excluding the train) that still had it's original name. And was the staple for scenery when coming to the park. Everyone knew how iconic that ride was, due to it's extreme height. I'm not mad, honestly. It was expensive to maintain, and costly to run. I'm just sad to be losing such a park staple. And I'm sad because that ride will be gone and that lot will sit there empty for years to come. Coming to the park and not seeing Xcalibur on the skyline is just.. sad and wrong.
  11. Well I mean there was one noteworthy thing that happened. Involving some very aggressive turkey legs.
  12. This is what people don't understand. As a base diamond elite, I got 50% off basically everything. Merchandise, food, dining pass, candy. A flat rate discount on flash pass, plus skip the line tickets. A free funnel cake, free icee, double rides on paid attractions. All that for $217 a year, and we had HITP to make it an even better value. Now, a diamond pass gets you 20%, you pay $224, 50% a season pass for flash pass, 4 skip the line passes. Like what, that's a better value? It's not. If you want people to pay more, you need to give them something for it.
  13. I don't blame them, I have a legacy diamond elite VIP pass. They are losing a crap ton of money on me, considering I visited the place 3x a week basically for the year. I am the bane of all six flags everywhere.
  14. Aw, look at that optimism! It's so cute. New roofs don't get people into the park. Those are just necessary expenditures. You know what does get people into the park? Rides. We got nothing for two years, we get woman whip only this year, which hasn't exactly been open everyday when the park was open. And now, we get nothing for 2023. So tell me, what's new and exciting that will attract crowds and people in general? Sticking up a poster saying we got new roofs and paint doesn't do that. No one goes home and tells their neighbors they painted a building. No one except us anyway, because we are crazy like that. Six flags has closed parks before. Just look at Astroworld. Our parks death will come. And it will come sooner, rather than later.
  15. Well this has been all a joy to read. The slow realization that I was right all along has settled among you all. There was once a time our park was considered one of the greatest in the chain, the founder, having a vision of a park that would rival Disney world. That time has since passed. I give it 10 years before our park is closed.
  16. Yes, he was there Monday. I met him in the queue on American Thunder. He's visiting all the parks in the SF chain on the down low to get a feel for what each park might need. He is the nicest guy I have ever met that worked in the corporate office. He was super incognito, just trying to be a regular guest. The guy has a vision, and he sees every six flags as becoming a premium experience that rivals places like Cedar Point and Hershey Park. And he cares about every park, even little old us. No, I didn't get any secret plans or anything, although not for my lack of trying. Gives me hope our park won't be left behind anymore. (And if you believe any of this I have a bridge to sell you)
  17. And people called me a pessimist when it comes to the park Our park is far from mediocre, sure I think there are a ton of areas that could use improvement and bigger investments, but it's by far not mediocre. American thunder, Mr freeze, and The Boss are some of the best coasters in the chain. They aren't hyper coasters with record setting inversions, speed, or length but they are absolutely incredible. And with the massive maintenance done that was, well let's be honest, way overdue, we've had new decking, new rails, new paint, queue improvements. And the entire section over by Catwoman being redone. The park now is way better than 4-5 years ago. It's got more to go, but even little ol corporate hates us me can see the vast improvements and know we aren't mediocre.
  18. The carousel is being redone by hand mostly. They are spending a metric butt ton of money on this already. There are very few qualified people who can even do the work to begin with, on top of that it's being done in the middle of a pandemic. Which I'm sure slows down work even more. When it comes to restoration jobs like this. You either do the job right or you don't do it at all. Let's appreciate the fact that the park is spending this kind of money on a carousel rather than just replacing it, which would have been far cheaper.
  19. Don't worry I've already seen most of the area from my own sources . It's a little minimalist for my taste, but at least it isn't as bad as Supergirl's area. I'm overall extremely pleased with what I've seen, theyve done a fine job. The only thing I don't know about is what happened with the mosaic. I really hope that's been kept. That was art.
  20. The only thing wrong with the ninja is the janky old arrow trains. They were garbage when put in, they are more garbage now. The new vekoma trains would make ninja 200% better than what it is now. Personally, I like the ninja, I just wish it wasn't so bone breaking. Speaking of updates, I've heard from some employees that a lot of park maintenance was done this winter since everything has been so mild. Lots of new paint, new roofs, even some AC work, although I have no idea which AC's we're worked on. I'm genuinely excited about everything that's been done. Finally getting caught up on the maintenance.
  21. Every themepark should be required to have a minimum of two hypers
  22. That's exactly what I thought when I heard that. I cannot fathom their reasoning for that, but, its the truth. It's literally the same coaster from expo 86, which for some reason was popular even if neck breaking then.
  23. That's the way Ninja was designed though, Ninja was designed to be a steel coaster with a "feel" of a wooden one, same with Blue Hawk from SFoG, but its gotten a lot worse as it's aged though. I could be wrong but I think they are still using the original trains from Arrow, which.. Werent great to begin with.. Most of the parks who have the same track type have upgraded to the 6 car Vekoma trains and a different style of restraint system which reduce the awful jerkiness of the ride by a ton. Blue Hawk in SFoG a few years ago got some track refurbishment and new trains which apparently makes the coaster (which is identical to ninja in terms of roughness at the time) basically smooth and has the added benefit of making the coaster run faster.
  24. You guys can criticize me all you want, but it doesn't make me any less wrong. In the last five years alone, five attractions were removed in the main park, and one of those was just half removed and looks awful. In the last 5 years, we have gained three rides in the main park. Three. Just three. That's a net loss of two full rides. And one of them was delayed for two full years while literally every other park had their ride open in 2021. What the chain is doing for the park is literally the bare minimum. I'm supposed to appreciate the bare minimum? That's like going to a franchised steak house that calls itself the best steakhouse in Missouri, ordering a moderately priced steak and they give you a plate that had a thin steak that's mostly all bone. Would you send it back and demand something better, or would you accept the moderately priced steak and just say "well the cooks tried their best, its okay". That's literally what most of you sound like. Anyone remember our 50th park anniversary? What a dismal display. Some fireworks, some dippin dots, and a pin, I seem to recall many of you being disappointed in what we got for that. That disappointment is what us hardcore fans have felt for the last 10 years I dont care if you like me or hate me, although it's pretty obvious it's the latter. But good lord, it is not too much to ask for the chain to do more than the bare minimum, which they havent even done that sad to say.
