  1. Yeah mate, very constructive... Halloween would be awesome at Movie World, judging by how well they theme their attractions, one can only assume they would do a great job.
  2. 3/4 will suit pretty well actually. Cheers.
  3. Thanks alot for the replies We will be travelling on a Eurail pass, so it might make sense to arrive in the morning (probably coming from frankfurt) and leave again in the afternoon. For those of you who have ridden it, does Expedition Geforce inspire one to stay all day to ride, or should half a day suffice?
  4. Hi everybody! Just wondering, for those that have been to Holiday Park, is there any budget-style accomodation within walking distance from the park? Cheers.
  5. Actually that 'on screen persona' that you are referring to was not an act at all. Reading and listening to the many tributes that have been flowing in across the media over the last couple of days, one thing that I have become aware of that I was not before, is that that was his personality. Seems to be one of the defining characteristics that made him so unique.
  6. Yeah, I think Shrek is opening in September and Superman in Decemeber. Decemeber January are peak summer months down here (proabbly Feb too, Rabid would know more accurately) - so having it open in december would make sense I guess. Having said that, September school holidays are huge, so maybe that is why they are getting Shrek ready to open in a couple of weeks. From what I have been told, most of the ride system for Shrek has been installed... Edit: Slightly off-topic, but it get mentioned on our boards recently and I think a lot of people agree. I really hope movie world upgrade the ride program for Batman the ride (motion simulator). The CGI program they have in there at the moment, whilst enjoyable, could be so much better.
  7. Yeah, I hear ya with regards to the theming. Movie World really do go all out with their theming down here. There is a reason why Scooby Doo (which is a Mack Wild Mouse) gets rave reviews, which will be another nice little surprise for you guys that are thinking about coming here
  8. It opens on the 26th? that's my birthday! I feel special to have an Intamin launching coaster open on my birthday ! Looks like an awesome coaster! Brent "Coolio!" Shenton 8) Well, I think all of our birthdays will have come at once come the 26th of decemeber. Dan "Coaster Starved" Ede
  9. We're back up now, just had to do a site upgrade that took longer than expected.
  10. Imagine if those airtime hill were diving in and out of tunnels...wow, well I can dream
  11. Think Indoor Preshow with holographic effects, launch, crazy elements and - I am hoping, tunnels (by the looks of the last update Ian did...).
  12. I think the most exciting aspect of this coaster (and I have said this before) is that it is lauching out of the building (have a look at the pics) - with the possibilty of effects along the indoor part of the lauch (THE LAUNCH ACTUALLY STARTS INSIDE THE BUILDING, in the dark and exits through that cut out in the old studio). Don't forget all the preshow track is in the same building, if we are right, the first part of the ride is basically an immersive dark ride, but no one is 100% sure yet, but it is anything akin to what they did with Scooby Doo, we are in for a treat - and anyone who has ridden that can tell how good Movie World are with theming.
  13. ^ Yeah, the height and speed are definately mixed up. Its about 40 meters, not 40 stories and 100kmph (~65mph?), not 190.
  14. ^ It actually seems pretty consistant with what we know so far about the ride. The have already started work on both the indoor and outdoor sections. Ofcourse we won't know much about the indoor section until it opens, but that description is similar to what I have heard from some reliable sources.
  15. Found an interesting description about superman here: http://www.themeparkinsider.com/news/response.cfm?ID=2075
  16. Batman Begins. Awesome, best Batman to date imo. Great cast, looking forward to the next one.
  17. Yeah, Brisbane isn't really a tourism destination, but its a great place to live. The Gold Coast night life is good in a way, but somewhat fake and pretentious (as you probably know djrappa ).
  18. Yeah, thats true, but domestic flights are cheap, so if there was a significant saving from flying to sydney first, than it may well be worth doing (not to mention that Syndey in itself is worth visiting). Its an hour flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast or Brisbane airports.
  19. Do you know when they are supposed to be starting this service? If they cos is comparable to the Bris/Syd - LAX route than it could be good for us to travel to florida.
  20. Yeah, but from what we have seen of the layout it should be amazing. It will be the first rocket coaster with an extensive indoor section and some heavy theming as well. You only need to look at what Movie World were able to do with a Mack Wild Mouse (Scooby Doo) to get an idea of how this *could* be. We're gonna do another update on Sunday/Monday and we'll try and see if we can make out some of the layout based on the footers etc. We pretty much know where the top hat and some other elements are going to be, but a lot of it is a mystery.
