Is the main issue people are having with season pass prices? I mean a single day ticket is still like $40 or less, and an annual pass to a single park for SFOG is showing as $132 which is pretty reasonable.
Compared to $56 I paid for the all park pass for 2020?

Six Flags thinks they have a product worthy of the kind of cash outlay I had at Universal 5-6 years ago. They can believe that all they want, because I don't owe them my business for an inferior service that costs significantly more than it used to while not being any better.
Agree. SF is just not worth the new costs to me either.
I bought season passes so I could go on a whim (or while traveling for work) when they were relatively cheap. And the dining option made such visits worth while.
If the same options I had in 2021 were $10-20 more for 2022 I would have renewed all 3 of us.
But the new pricing just isn't worth it when the nearest park is 3+ hours away.
I didn't renew I 2022 an doubt I will for 2023 either.
Some special event (like a meet up) might get me in a park for a day.
I'll keep my passes to other places where there's more than just crappy, over priced food an long lines for the same old rides deteriorating. -

Dolly's at the park today filming a holiday movie or special or something.
Would be cool to get a sighting.
Christmas movie for NBC. Includes something about a casino based on the casting call for extras.
Was there a parade last night? She usually is in that. And depending on schedule she'll pop in at the beginning/end of shows at random. Seems to favor Celebrity Theater though.

Fun ride. Wish I could have ridden it in its "heyday".
Having ridden it since the first public rides (pure luck, but was there the day they had media doing interviews as people came off the ride. Had a nice chat with Pete Owens that day too) I really don't think it has changed in any significant way.
Sure the original zero car looked better, but that doesn't really change the ride.
The whole point of I-Box and Topper track are that they ride like wood with less maintenance, and I don't notice any differences in the two nor the re-tracked sections.

The large building being constructed just absolutely ruins the entire park. Just trashed. We'll never be back. My wife was offended and our daughter cried.
Hopefully it's temporary and will be themed to fit in better.

Concept art almost always gets CUT more than ADDED TO. I think this is it. I mean, yeah, if they don’t cut the grass after it grows we will have some “infill”
Well trees are out. They like to blow over or loose branches that damage rides. That was the impetus for cutting them back.
We don't have much showing the station area and the path from old WWG to the ride.
The B&W photo shows 3 buildings other than the station. Some new trees down near Till & Harvest. And thicker trees near the train tracks.
As the new WWG section grows they could add around BBM. I'm not sure how they will get past BBM. Not much room to the west before you hit the train tracks. Lots of room down by Till & Harvest and MM, but how to get there? -

I don't think the issue is "long term appeal", I think the issue is that every coaster in the park has surprisingly terrible capacity other than the three that you just mentioned (assuming Tornado has 2 trains running). Wild Eagle has short lines, but it also has the highest capacity of any coaster in the park by far.
Could be partially capacity. But at the same time I'd expect TH, TT, and WE to have longer lines than they typically do. Quite often they are walk on to less than 10 min.

The theming would have made it into a complete experience, but now it's just another kids ride that will be fall to a mid-tier ride at DW in a few years when they add the next rides and the novelty of being new wears off.
FCE is still packed most of the time. Longer waits than bigger coasters like WE, TT, and TH.
DF too. This will take some pressure off those and I expect all 3 will be very busy for years to come. The comments on FB seem to be overwhelmingly positive.
A few coaster fans like here and a few that want something indoor, but mostly people glad for rides they and/or their kids can/will ride.
Unlike the big coasters, they have long term appeal.
I remember the lines in Nov 2012 after WE opened. I haven't seen anything close since 2013. That huge cue is virtually unused now, just like the one for TT and TH.
13 minutes ago, Shavethewhales2 said:ll those trees feel even more ridiculous. It's not like they are using all the space they flattened and cleared off at all. There's so much empty void space between this and the train tracks.
I'm hopeful they do more theming and décor than the renderings show.
The rest of the area cleared will be filled in over time. I kind of expect some surprises there next year.
2020-2022 really screwed with the plans.

they never replaced the exposed and ugly Mystery Mine supports and then left the unused track just sitting there, Wildwood Grove is ugly, etc.
The left over MM track fits ok. Old abandoned mine with lots of "junk" around.
I've read/heard many comments on how good WWG looks. I don't think it's that good but many do.
As for BBM, I'm hoping for a lot around the station. Time will tell.

I didn't see who the manufacturer was however. Based on the artwork, it looks like it could be either Vekoma or Intamin.
The new post on FB saysQuoteJoin Ned Oakley in Spring 2023 on our largest family adventure yet: Big Bear Mountain.
This multi-launch Vekoma coaster contains 3,990 ft. of track, expanding Wildwood Grove with a six-acre ride.
Prepare for things to get BIG by watching our exclusive first look at ride animation.

Looks pretty unique, and I'm sure Dollywood will go all out with the theme. I didn't see who the manufacturer was however. Based on the artwork, it looks like it could be either Vekoma or Intamin. Maybe I overlooked it since I'm just an insane crackhead.
Since Vekoma shipped a 15500kg ride to them in March I suspect it's Vekoma.

Currently planning a trip. Do you guys think this one will be operational by 2027?
I expect later this year. For sure when the park opens in the spring.
This is the last week they are open all week until Thanksgiving, so they can move faster.
They are finishing the front section along the Hwy. Behind the arcade is done. A lot of supports up for the run from corner to/over the arcade (maybe more that I haven't seen photos of yet).
So start building the station later this month and possibly testing mid Sep, more likely late Sep.
But I can see it open in Oct/Nov. -

Also, don't forget LR has a single riders line.
Wasn't sure if JJ would be alone or with others. And that only helps with LR. If it's busy and you want to ride others then the pass could be handy.

Ah thanks all, I forgot about that site. I'll do some digging, but I really want to go, will most likely just go for it and pray as that seems all we really can do XD
You can buy fast passes for one of the days. (I assume multiple days planned). Would help getting in many rides, particularly LR.
But crowds can are difficult to predict.

How is the park like in early Sept?
The Saturday before was pretty busy in 2019.
https://www.dollywoodwaittimes.com/?day=2019-08-31
But Friday wasn't bad.
https://www.dollywoodwaittimes.com/?day=2019-08-30
No data for Sunday or Monday. Maybe they were closed?
2020 looked busy Sat, Sun and Mon.
https://www.dollywoodwaittimes.com/?day=2020-09-05
Friday wasn't too bad though.
Of course this year is anyone's guess. With inflation, travel is curtailed, but recent drops in gas price may increase that. Or Prices could shoot up again and the park be nearly dead.
Oh LR. Had down time around noon Friday (maybe weather related), Then some short periods Sat and Sun. Also a longer period Sun evening (likely weather).

this week was horrifying painful. This was the roughest ride I've ever had on Lightning Rod, … I could barely walk when I got off the ride and my back hurt for two full days. I'm not sure I want to ride Lightning Rod ever again. I'd also like an explanation from Dollywood as to why it was so rough.
Not at all the experience back around the 4th.
No rows were out of service and it rode as smooth as it did the first day it was open the public (I just happened to be I the park that day)
Have to think it was a bad part (wheel?) to be that different in just a few weeks.

I expect similar to Dragonflier.

okay but like... why haven't the LSM stators been replaced by Indrivetec yet?
VM uses DC supplied from a capacitor bank to drive the LSMs. That reduces the AC capacity needed.
Others need much higher AC supply to power the system. And getting the needed power to the park/ride was an issue, that's why the VM system was chosen.
Hard to find details, but it was discussed a good bit back when LR was being built.
17 hours ago, CedarFlags said:Also, if heat is a problem... DCA fixed that by adding sprinklers to the launch track on California Screamin 20 freakin years ago. Idk why that would be so impossible for Lightning Rod.
They did that years ago. Go to 0:30 in this video.
All that vapor/mist there is water sprayed for cooling. It helped but doesn't seem to be enough.
Again, we don't really know where the issue is and only have vague comments and innuendo to go on. My comments on heat are based on a few comments from ride operators, when they cut back to single train, and other downtime observations.
But nobody has outright said anything was getting hot let alone what was getting hot.
I'm hoping when. It cools down in the fall we'll see better operation. That would only be anecdotal, but would add a data point to our attempts to understand the problems.

Have Intamin install a cable lift and call it a day
What would that take though? Where to put the equipment, how to route the cable, etc.
How fast can that run?
It's certainly change the character of the ride.I just wish the companies involved were more open about the issues.
When it rolls out of the station, hits the first LSMs, and does an E-stop, why?
What triggered the stop? A sensor in a car? A track sensor? LSM issue?
