  1. Could you please elaborate on this? This post elaborates decently I think.
  2. Maybe the dude had his expectations so high that when they weren't reached he assumed the ride was slower? It definitely feels the same, you don't notice any slow down in the front, but you do in the back. It's simply gravity, not trims.
  3. I was a train behind you. Are you the guy with the blond or the guy with glasses Both! All 3 of my rides were great. The launch hasn't changed a bit. Based on a few of our reports, I think it's safe to call this rumor false.
  4. Two trains away from front seat. Will see if it's also the same.
  5. In line for my third ride of the day. This ride is just as balls to the walls intense as the day I rode it first in October. The launch still feels amazing.
  6. trim.92358F42-8957-4E34-BA26-8BE8A6F2E013.MOV Here's a video of the launch 6/18/17
  7. The people behind the Is Lightning Rod Open twitter account should also start a "Is Lightning Rod Slow Today" account.
  8. Can confirm. It honestly doesn't feel different, not even slightly.
  9. Okay, just got off. I'm officially calling MEGA BS on that rumor. The launch feels exactly the same, and it still hauls a$$ the whole way. Great air!
  10. I'm in line now, I've ridden it extensively before so I think I can give a good statement. They are only running one train. It still whips through the quad down and half loop from what I see
  11. I'm here and I see no trims have been added to the launch track. They just did a test run and the launch looks the same. Still hauls a$$ through the quad down
  12. Also, the launch speed looks the same in both videos.. the butthurt "enthusiasts" in the comments humor me though. To be honest, the new one even looks a bit faster. Now.. I wish they would add that d*mned trunk back.
  13. I asked IOE on Facebook, they said nothing has changed with the ride that would involve them and they haven't been informed of any changes either. If trims were added, I would imagine they would've been asked to come in and add the required programming. This is not confirmation, but just a nice chat between some nice people who run a great company.
  14. I didn't see any trims at the top of the launch when I was last there about a week ago. Did you ride the original? It's always felt like it was trimmed at the top, the launch only goes about 2-3/4 of the way up.
  15. If it is indeed true, I'd surely hope it's temporary. When I saw it testing a little over a week ago it didn't look slower. I haven't ridden the "slowed down" version yet, but I absolutely LOVED Lightning Rod, despite how quirky it was. I'd hate for it to be dramatically less intense, the intensity is what made it great. I'm trying not to let the opinion of one kid on instagram effect me too much. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned this was his first time riding. People are now saying that the ride isn't slowed down, but trimmed at the top... we've all heard that before. LR has always had a noticeable slow down cresting the lift hill, so maybe this is just a misunderstanding.
  16. I'm heading there soon, I've ridden it at least 40 times, I'll be sure to report my findings. TBH, this rumor is probably a bunch of confirmation bias BS.
  17. Heard this on that coaster studio guys instagram. Surely they wouldn't give up their record of the fastest wood coaster, slowing down the launch would surely make the rest of the ride slower.
  18. Dollywood should have used Unicorn Barf, but decided to go with a new company for the launch that used a prototype Unicorn Farts. There has been speculation that the Unicorn Fart will be replaced by a traditional Horse Fart instead, seeing that the Unicorn Fart is not performing to the desired specifications.
  19. +1 All coasters are designed to operate within a certain margin, it's almost impossible to stay at or under the specified speed every time based on train weight (which is different every time). This. That rumor should've never started in the first place last year. Anyways, I'm just gonna post this here just to show how stupid people are these days. This was found in the comments of the WBIR post on facebook from last night: This is hilarious. It's even better that he's acting arrogant about his ignorance. Can I please buy some proper grammar?

  21. Pffft, that rumor again!? That' so 2016. LSMs require such ridiculous precision and control that there is quite literally no way that would be able to happen. Also, the company that designed and programmed the ride control system (Irvine Ondrey Engineering) confirmed this rumor to be false when it was first circulating in June of 2016.
  22. The tool a fellow member created will be very useful in the coming days... http://dw.jonstoddart.com/ride.php?ride=Lightning%20Rod&day=2017-06-16
  23. Is it in technical rehearsal or is it just staff?
