Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
milo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I visited yesterday as well. The presence of the school groups initially dampened my spirits when I thought I might not get to ride everything I wanted. Fortunately, the majority of the groups left the park around 5pm, freeing up the lines for every ride. That fact permitted me to complete 11 of the coasters with minimal waits. I think that's a record for me. That, plus the drop in temperature, made the last three hours of the day very pleasant. I really enjoyed Laff Trakk as well. Nice job on that one, though it could be a bit darker inside. -
I went today and it was pretty much as you described your visit. At 1130am, Goliath's line was 210 minutes, though it settled down a bit later. I didn't have the stamina (or bladder) to endure that kind of wait, so I was only able to ride Raging Bull and X-Flight, waiting a total of 2.5 years for both. The temperature dropped significantly later in the day, so I headed out. Much too cold for this westcoaster.

Got a bit of a transportation challenge for everyone. I'll be in Chicago next weekend and am planning on visiting Six Flags on Sunday. I thought renting a car just for Sunday might be the way to go, but all the major rental agencies are closed Sundays. I don't need a car for the entire weekend, just the one day. Any suggestions for getting there and back? I'm staying about 40 miles to the south of the park. Thanks for any suggestions.

The cottages do look charming, but they are a little pricey for the dates I'll be staying. Thanks though. -

Thanks. I'll be going to the park on a Friday and staying in the area that night. I like Days Inn usually, and I'll gladly stay there in a pinch, but I'm just seeing if there are any less expensive places for now. 20 miles probably isn't too far either. -

I am going to Holiday World for the day next month. I see there are a number of motels close to and farther away from the park. What are the odds I'll be able to find a motel room for a couple of nights within ten miles of the park without a reservation? Any recommendations would be helpful. I'd prefer a motel with free wi-fi, and in the $60/night range. -

I was considering staying two consecutive nights in Santa Clara, but I'd like to see the SCBB during the evening, so I will likely drive down after my CGA visit. quote="singemfrc"]^ Right, but since CGA is the middle park, you could do SFDK, then go to the CGA hotel, then do CGA, then stay at the CGA hotel the second night, then move on to SCBB. Super 8s are usually fine, anything that is a chain is more than fine if you're just looking for "not disgusting" like I usually do.

I'm planning on driving to my next destination at the end of each day, so I would be staying at three different hotels. I only need an adequately clean bed/facilities and internet access. My travel days will be a Monday-Thursday, coming up from Los Angeles, if that gives you any idea of what kinds of traffic patterns I should be encountering. I'll be staying at a motel nearby the night before each park. Any opinion on the Super 8 motel chain? They seem affordable, yet a level above Motel 6.
