  1. NICE PARK! I like how they still have the old Schwarzkopf coasters and the arrow coaster. And that ENORMOUS pirate ship ride freaks me out for some reason.
  2. I'm not a troll, I had to have my brother tell me what a troll was , why is everybody getting so upset because I don't like S.D.C and I'm telling them why? Can we not all have our own opinions?
  3. THANK YOU! Finally, somebody who agrees with me! Not even close. Oh, I thought you stood by my post, you had the little arrows and they were pointing at mine. Oh well, I guess I'll just be the only S.D.C hater, Celebration City lover, out of the thousands on theme park review.
  4. I still think you are a troll, but even if you are not, you aren't convincing anyone on here to side with your (extremely unusual) opinion. And I think we can all benefit from not responding to him any further if he is going to continue with his SDC SUX1!!! posts. Let the moderators handle that. What's sux? Anyway, I know I'm not going to convince anybody, I knew that when I started on theme park review, but until I feel like the money I spend at that park is worth it, I will always hate S.D.C. The only parts I like are the Cave, and Fireman's Landing. That was probably the most exciting addition to me in all the parks history. As one of my first memory rides was going back in and they were finally getting a drop tower and it also happened to by C.C's. And the one of the first memory rides was Fire Spotter, the 1985 Zamperla Balloon Race, when I was little and my mom and dad carried me around in the backpack at amusement parks (they would leave my upper body sticking out) I have a few small memories, one was going past them at their old location where the river battle is today, and I was crying because there were loud noises coming from it and also I could hear geyser gulch's horns and it scared me.
  5. No, please, make it stop. I beg of you. I can't take it anymore. Before long Adventureland will have far superior chicken fingers(SDC hand breads them, pretty sure Adventureland just puts there hand in a pre-cooked bag Source) and that the Underground is a much better ride than Fire in the Hole ever thought about being. I don't care how they are made, on my visit to Adventureland, I had barbecue while my Papa had chicken fingers, I tried one and they taste like all chicken fingers, even the ones at S.D.C that I've eaten SOOOO many times over the years. And although I do think Fire in the Hole is better for the coaster lovers than the Underground, but I still love the cheesy dark ride elements on the Underground more and that ULTRA cheesy animatronic in the queue center.
  6. Don't even waste you time going to SDC, it is an over rated and over priced wasteland. The only ride that is sort of OK is Outlaw Run. So says a troll on Theme Park Review. Its just my opinion, and S.D.C is overpriced, my season pass cost ninety dollars for White Water and S.D.C, and a day pass for each park is sixty dollars for each park individually. At Adventureland for the water park and amusement park it was just forty. Your opinions are minority opinions amongst people who have been to Silver Dollar City. And now you are just making silly comparisons. You say SDC is overpriced, yet $90 for a season pass sounds like a great deal to me, so there are ways to make the park more cost efficient. Now you are comparing Adventureland to SDC, yes Adventureland is a better deal for a day tripper that wants rides and a water park, but their season pass is $130. Who is overpriced now? I'm just curious what rides at Adventureland are superior to what I consider the best rides at SDC. Outlaw Run, Powder Keg, Wildfire Also, let me know where the great food is at Adventureland. And the entertainment options at Adventureland. For the record I like Adventureland but there is a reason why the single day entrance price is much lower then SDC's. With Adventureland, you're also getting free parking with the season pass, and ten bucks may not seem like much when at S.D.C you just get discounted parking, and for the average coaster enthusiast traveling from afar, the one to two days are also well cheaper, forty bucks one day, twenty five the next. And children three and under are free so I still find Adventureland the better deal considering I'll only go there about once every two to three years. And personally, I liked the food at Adventureland, I went to the cool barbecue place near the end of the boulevard section of the park. And later when my Papa got Coffee at the same place we also got fresh donuts . And for the shows, I'm pretty sure there are some shows at that one building on main street that has the theater marquee but we didn't really want to see the shows as I wanted to ride all the flats, and I think there's a music show at the one Coke pavilion with that stage that rises out of the ground like at Disney. I heard music coming from over there while I was on the log ride but I paid no attention to it. And there's a pretty good circus at the back of the park.
  7. Well I'm just an hour, what park are you closest to? SFSTL is about 30 mins. I wish SDC and it would switch spots, though. Me too. I'd take Screaming Eagle over Outlaw Run any day. Although the only thing keeping me going to S.D.C is Accelerator/Firefall. Lol okay let's switch houses then Oh please, my parents would never give up the farm, and it'd be hard to move our seven dogs, fifteen cats, four horses, and the guineas (birds). But if I could it'd switch with you.
  8. Don't even waste you time going to SDC, it is an over rated and over priced wasteland. The only ride that is sort of OK is Outlaw Run. So says a troll on Theme Park Review. Don't forget the S&S Shot Tower from the far superior Celebration City that was a few miles away I'm glad S.D.C got the double shot rather than a space shot, I love double shots while I find space shots less powerful and maybe even tame. The CC/SDC S&S tower is one of the tamest in the country. Are you sure you're not a troll? No one can be this misguided on opinions. REALLY! Many other people other than me have said it's the second best double shot with Indiana Beach's being the best one. And no, I'm not a troll, I'm just stating my opinion like what everybody does on theme park review, that's why I joined three or four weeks ago, to tell people my opinion and see what theirs are. So far people have been calling my opinions terrible. But for now, I'm going to sleep as it's past midnight where I am.

  11. Well my Nana and Papa may take me to K.K as they saw Stormchaser on the news and thought they'd take me there. But I don't think my ninth grade classmates would find my view cool as I love carousel and wrought iron fences and flower beds and fountains. And my dad may take me to Dollywod for Lightning Rod.
  12. Dude has never seen where the Star Flyer on Galveston Pleasure Pier was put if he's questioning that placement. Look, everything I posted is just some pie in the sky vision. I think it could be done. Now if he's got something against SDC well that's crazy. He lost me at favoring surface lots over attractions. A simple google image search for mixed use entertainment complex degelopment can give you all kinds of ideals. I said somewhere on here what I hate so much about S.D.C, but I do favor ground surfacing and normal stuff like that. It just looks prettier to me to see a ride surrounded by trees, shrubs, and flowers, and sometimes fountains, simple things like that. Oh. And I'm going to S.D.C tomorrow, I need a thrill fix and I feel like riding Accelerator. If anybody else is going I'm the kid with blonde hair, brown eyes, wearing black or maroon high tops, with the semi fat tall kid that's probably wearing a car shirt, and the blonde young lady. If you see me just call me Eli Mertens. Why would anyone want to hang out with a punk that would obviously ruin a great park experience? If you think SDC is "teh sux" you obviously haven't traveled much. I've gone to all the parks in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa. Although my reasoning for going to Adventureland was strange to most. I wanted to ride their Carousel really badly. Must've been strange for people to see a thirteen year old on a carousel but it was a quality Carousel. But I wouldn't say I'd ruin the experience, I have fun when I get there. Although my brother like to elbow me or punch me if I scream, or make any noises for that matter, and he yells at me if I run ahead to try and get a good spot in a line. And the rides I usually like to go to are Accelerator, Fire Spotter, I'm a sucker for those Zamperla balloon races, and I usually like wildfire because it usually always has the shortest line. But I believe we may just go in the cave tomorrow if it's too hot, and also my brother and his lady friend may not even be interested in the rides. What's tuh sux?

  18. YES! I could go without S.D.C, close S.D.C, put White Water in it's place, reopen Celebration City! PERFECT! I'd rather have a fun, 50's/60's theme park than a mediocre hillbilly park. Wow! You are in a vast minority with that opinion! SDC is a fantastic park with a fantastic theme, top notch food, exceptional hospitality, first class rides, and a rich history! The only things I miss about CC is Ozcat, which Outlaw Run is a far superior coaster, and the laser show on the rock wall. SDC, DW, and HW are three of the best parks in the Country. Oh please, the food is over priced, like everything else at that wretched park, super greasy and doesn't taste as good as everybody says it is, and it gives me hard core Montezuma's revenge. And the only hospitality I've gotten is a ride open yelling at kids to stop running from the exit back to the entrance even though the park was dead and there was nobody else in line and wouldn't just let us stay on the ride. And the only rides that I think are first class are MAYBE Outlaw Run, though it's not as good as all the hype it gets, and Firefall, which of course is a transplant from Celebration City. And Wildfire is pretty fun. But all the flats are run on terrible cycles where the run at full speed for about ten seconds. And by rich history I see a mining town turned into a small cave attraction turn Herschend, over priced, over rated, money drain on your wallet. And the shows aren't even that good. Far below laser shows and sea lion shows.

Not a troll, just my opinion, I DESPISE S.D.C, it's an overpriced, over rated wasteland.
  20. But of course, I do like whoever's idea it was to convert one of the buildings into a mirror maze type thing, that seemed pretty awesome.
  21. That's good, but it took long enough, I went about a week and a half ago and the Zulu was down then too. Where do you work in the park? Maintenance, operations, financial department, WHERE? I want to know if you have any insight if there's about to be something new and mechanical that will require maintenance or if they will soon be hiring for operations of a new ride or if they are about to make a big investment. And what age do they start hiring? When I went there was an employee I think working at a game and he looked REALLY young, like MY age of fourteen!
  22. Great news! I hope the park continues to flourish and grow. It has so much potential. Me too. I think that someday in a near future this will be a full scale amusement park with the rides, the zoo, and I'm sure they start a water park again.
  23. You can fit the vast majority. You are thinking in a strip mall mindset. Remer my first post on this. I said parking decks with liner buildlings. Take this example of what I'm talking about, street level store fronts for restaurants, limited retail and hotel rooms wrapped around a multi level parking deck As for rides, take the star flyer. I believe Tivoli's is on a raise platform. Well, in this as it's above a circular building. Where have I seen this in the states but not with a Star Fyler. But, It gives you the idea. Oh. Ew. Kind of seeing that I think something like that would kind of keep me away. I like the traditional parking lot, getting out of the car and seeing the entrance gate across the parking lot and nostalgic stuff like that. And I kind of don't like the idea of having elevated rides like at Blackpool or Playland's Castaway Cove, to me if just makes the place seem.....cramped.....and.....I just can't find the right words but I'm going to be honest, elevated rides and parking garages would turn me off of wanting to go back. What I think should happen is like all the F.E.Cs in Branson, free admission, pay per ride, like Branson USA was except have standout rides that Branson USA didn't really have. Make it sort of like Fun Spot America in Orlando. Well, we'll have to disagree. It needs it's own core and can be done right. I remember seeing how they used the fact that the restaurants had to be elevated for storm surge protection so they ran the train under them and include a dark ride section. When you said 0 acres and claim it will not all fit I threw out SOME of the possible solutions. Most building would be repurposed, but some may need to go bye bye . Take the water feature with the waterfall for the last ride they added before closing I'm sure that could be saved and even used for a front feature of the Lodge that would house an indoor waterpark This building is fine to repurpose for a use. Facades can easily change lots of room there in the plaza in front However, the old entrances goes but the street can be extended . Look there's a pad for a Star Flyer. The bowling alley, movie theater and FEC with a ride like bumper cars can all be in the same building. We aren't talking a 22 screen movie plex but 6 to 8 with upscale features and stadium seating. The bowling alley and FEC can be multiple levels. Go up, not out since the movie portion of the build is going to be taller . Here's a Muvico/Splitsville combo as an example of just a single level Not much has happened across the street either, that could be bought up for surface parking but you have to understand, single level surface parking it's about as big of a waste of space as there is, especially when room for other studs is needed. When integrated with other uses, parking structures can pay for themselves easier and fees waved. Branson Landing did a good job of having a mix of a little surface parking with a parking structure also used . Branson a ready has The Tracks locations and others, this place can,do without minigolf or go carts. I said 40 acres, and what I think should happen for that building next to the old Ferris Wheel is like an old fashioned movie theater, the ones that only had one screen and every couple days the movie would change. But the pad you pointed out for a Star Flyer was the pad of the old Larson flying scooters called Flying Circus, I don't believe that the pad is wide enough for a Star Flyer, I could be wrong but I remember the last Star Flyer I rode (the one at Six Flags Over Mid America) was pretty large in width while the last Flying Scooters I rode (the ones at Frontier City) were pretty small compared to the Star Flyer. Maybe a smaller Zamperla one would fit on that pad, or they could just extend the pad. But I guess the major thing is that I just don't really want it to change, I want what I had back, I don't want a park like Disney with LOTS of stores and full restaurants and just a few rides, I want my Celebration City with kick a** rides and the awesome 50's/60's shows. I want a flat parking lot and ground level rides. I want a big iron gate with the iron sign, Celebration City above it. I want a brick plaza with a brick ticket building. I want an entrance where I can see the top of a yellow double shot. I want to drive up to see a huge Technical Park Ferris Wheel, G.C.I woodie, Zierer Flying Carpet, and a S&MC Windstorm coaster. I don't want a shopping center like the existing Tanger Outlet not but three miles down the road or the Branson Landing five-ten minutes away. I want an actual amusement park. I know I probably can't have that again but whatever replaces it I just want it to be worth it, which lets be honest, it probably won't.

  25. Yeah, I'm sure it was an easy decision for Manby considering he probably never went to Celebration City. But I remember the Sea Lion show, I never really liked going to shows but the only shows that I've ever liked at any amusement parks have probably been Ignite the Night and the Sea Lion show because I thought those sea lions were so cute. And I also agree that Celebration City was modeled poorly between it's operating hours, and it didn't really have anything to bring in or wow guests from across the country, and also that I recall the price, like at every H.F.C establishment, being fairly expensive.
