  1. http://www.latimes.com/travel/themeparks/la-trb-cedar-fair-flat-rides-20150806-story.html#page=1 Found this article online. It seems that Cedar Fair will be bringing back old classic flat rides to all 11 of their parks. It also stated that Flying Scooters are at 8 of the 11 parks, and that Valleyfair along with other parks are next in line to receive them. Check it out.
  2. Valleyfair never teases their upcoming attractions. Route 76 came literally out of nowhere, the waterpark expansion this year was obvious, but it still wasn't teased.
  3. ^ Yeah. "Okay everyone, once your lap bar is down and locked, place your VR Headset over your head." Half the people wouldn't be able to put them on correctly, and would make lines terribly long.
  4. Excalibur at Valleyfair. Just bad. Painful, rough, short. Hopefully it gets removed soon.
  5. Some people just want to watch this thread burn. Anyways, yeah we definitely need some sort of teaser, markers, or just anything to speculate about, because this is going to be a long off season if we aren't getting anything for 2016.
  6. I bet the whole layout, name, and logo will be leaked within a week, just like Gatekeeper did.
  7. It no longer says Excalibur will be closing for Haunt on Valleyfair's website. Maybe that's because it will be open during haunt, ( doubt it) or maybe it's because Excalibur is being removed anyways.
  8. The announcement is coming August 27th according to Carowinds Instagram page.
  9. It's official, Carowinds is putting in a lake.
  10. Hey everyone, I was looking around on the Internet today, and I found some cool stuff. I found some of Wild Thing's press info, and I thought I'd share it. According to the press release Wild Thing was one of the tallest and longest roller coasters in the world. I think thats pretty impressive for a park like Valleyfair. Hopefully in the near future we can get more investments like Wild Thing was. Here are a couple photos. The illustration showing Wild Thing compared to Excalibur and the Ferris Wheel. The original artwork for Wild Thing. You guys were right, Wild Thing was designed specifically for Valleyfair.
  11. ^^Not one single person said your posts sucked. Get over your pity party.
  12. Talon pulled into the station a couple seconds after patriot did. It's not really "lacking in ride time". They seem pretty identical in ride time. Anyways, if and when Valleyfair gets their Invert, I don't expect it to be a Banshee, or a Montu, but I'm hoping for something a little more unique, or larger than Patriot/Talon.
  13. I say tear down Mean Streak and replace it with a record breaking GCI.
  14. Hey everyone, I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this video on here, or if anyone has seen this video, but I found an episode of Discovery's Build It Bigger on YouTube, and it features Renegade being built back in 2006-2007. It also features Griffin the Dive coaster being built, along with some behind the scenes footage of Sheikra. I just thought it was really cool that Renegade got featured on a TV show. It shows how cold it was to work in MN, and they show workers putting up lift supports and layering the wooden track. Check it out if you have the time! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sKSV9tnRnkM
  15. ^Hopefully he's looking for a spot in the park for our next coaster.
  16. Somebody who lives near CP, go to the park and look for us.
  17. I don't think Valleyfair counts Northern Lights as a caoster, so I don't see why Cedar Point would count Pipe Scream as one.
  18. ^I was also thinking about that too. It most likely won't be for Valleyfair, but hey, anything is possible right now. And that is great news, if the project was canceled he probably would have told you. So this probably means the plan is still being planned, or it has been confirmed already. I hope we see an announcement about Excalibur soon. The park needs change, and the removal of Excalibur along with the new improvements we are expecting to see in 2016 are bound to bring exciting things in the future.
  19. I totally agree with Garyman. I don't see what the big deal is. Why can't we speculate about future attractions without being told we are wrong or a bunch of high hoped fools? This thread would get super boring if we didn't speculate about anything. I am very satisfied with how active this thread has gotten, it felt just like yesterday that we only had 100 pages. I think we all know that everything we speculate about is not going to come true, but if we can't speculate at all then what is the point? Just my 2 cents.
  20. I don't know if this has ever been brought up before, but do any of you know how Valleyfair originally got its name? I don't know if I'm correct, but I believe it got its name from the Minnesota River. I think Valleyfair got its name because it's the "fair" in the "valley" of the Minnesota River. That is just what my parents and my older neighbors told me. Can anyone else confirm if this is true? I just think it's pretty interesting.
  21. From the CP thread. "Here is a statement from their website. Looks like a 2% increase in bodies through the gate. That's for all parks combined. Looks like Carowinds and Knotts are pulling the load. 07/08/2015 SANDUSKY, OHIO, July 8, 2015 -- Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, today reported preliminary net revenues through July 5, 2015 of approximately $491 million, an increase of $24 million, or 5%, when compared with the same period a year ago. This period traditionally represents approximately 40% of the Company’s full-year net revenues. The higher net revenues are a result of a 2% increase in attendance, a 2% increase in average in-park guest per capita spending and a 10% increase in out-of-park revenues, including resort hotels." No specific numbers for VF, but it looks like Cedar Fair's overall revenue is up from last year, and is continuing to grow. Hopefully this means more money to spend on future attractions.
  22. I can do drop towers, I just have to force myself on the ride, and remind myself that they are perfectly safe. The thing that bothers me isn't the height, or the sudden drop. It's the cables. Cables freak me out. They just don't seem to be the most reliable things around. My home park is Valleyfair, and we have an S&S drop tower, Power Tower. I'll definitely ride it, but I can't help but look at the cables on the ride. I don't mean to bring up bad memories, but cables don't seem very safe to me. I know, these accidents don't happen very often at all, but they still do happen. The accident at Kentucky Kingdom, the cable breaking on Sky Hawk, the cable breaking on TTD, even the cables breaking recently on the catapult ride at Mt. Olympus. Don't get me wrong, these are all great rides that are a lot of fun, but if a ride has cables, it's not going to an easy ride me.
