  1. Speaking of the Ferris wheel, is there a policy that single riders aren't allowed? My sister tried to ride along once and was told she couldn't.
  2. How does one recognize the almighty Mr Frazier?
  3. It's so fun to grey out on I305. Guess I gotta try Excalibur again. Hope there's not much of a wait.
  4. They could also be wondering whether "VIP parking" is upsetting the "non-VIPS"
  5. I went again today after the AM showers and before the PM ones started. Got to ride the Blue Power tower this time, and every thing else was a walk-on. Also noticed all the construction equipment is gone from Soak City.
  6. I was there yesterday evening, bailed just before the storm: *Also had the loooong wait for Renegade. I used the time to post here from my phone to see if anyone else might be around. *Agree that it looks nice, the new LED walkway lights look nice and should be easy to maintain even if I still miss the old ones before they ripped them all out and put those generic parking lot style ones in. I don't know if they're concerned about them dropping leaves and crap into the water, but it looks like more trees would have been nice for the new waterpark area. I also like that that it seems more open using a small metal rather than a huge wood fence. A second Caribou near the back of the park would be nice. *Wild Thing seemed to be running nice. Didn't get to rid the "blast up" Power Tower because of the issues.+
  7. Even if you visit another park, unless you do it more than once it's set up so it's still cheaper to buy a day pass for the second park. I've bought day passes to Carowinds, Worlds of Fun, and King's Dominion.
  8. This is never going to be Poseidon's Rage, but they run different patterns on different days. Some days it's small waves all over, some days larger waves, and some days larges waves towards the center only. I've attempted to ask the staff what determines what patterns are run, but they have no idea.
  9. Another wave pool wouldn't even fit where the Starship is.
  10. As far as general roughness, the existing speed slides are some of the worst out there. I've literally had rips put in several of my swimming suits.
  11. Yes, it made it quicker for the employees to get in, while still making the public walk by as many food stands and merchandise booths as possible.
  12. My guess is Frazier can't bring himself to destroy it now, but it will sit on the back lot for a decade, too expensive to restore, until it finally rusts out or Frazier's successor gets rid of it. I imagine a lot of pieces got damaged in the move, and even before there were dim and burned out sections. Even though the guy that made it is still around, neon is expensive (it costs me hundreds of dollars to get some tubing bent on two occasions) and a declining art. None of the neon museums I contacted bothered to return my emails, my only thought is that "Pioneer Village' place that took the Cottage View drive-in signs. Yes, it would be cool plopped down in Route 76 (maybe with a single face to halve the energy costs and salvage parts from the other side) but I doubt it's going to happen.
  13. It seems like they added higher headrests in recent years that really wrecked the view.
  14. Any hot weekend day the lounge chairs are all filled up There's no room for a first class family play area where the sand is, I tried dropping the one from Mount Olympus down on it and it doesn't fit there. However that tiny splash pad they're putting in seems like it could fit, if they had done that the Imax grave could be a first class family play area or a water coaster or something else. I'd rather have a Flowrider near the entrance so people walking by on the dry side of the park can see it
  15. Maybe it becomes a question of space then. The splash pad takes up an absolutely enormous amount of space for what it is. When they redo the old area they could easily fit a decent splash pad in there. There's no way to fit a decent family play area in there, but one would fit where they're doing the splash pad now.
  16. Waste of money to build something lame... Look at any non Cedar-Fair park for what a decent family water play area looks like.
  17. A couple of points. Charlotte may be smaller, but North Carolina has double the population of MInnesota. People so into coasters that they post on an internet forum might take a road trip to Great America because Valleyfair's coasters are lousy, but what percentage of Valleyfair's customers are those? What about the average family looking to take their kids out for the day, or some teens wanting to hang out? I'm not sure Wisconsin Dells "competes" with Valleyfair. It's a different experience, even with the waterpark upgrades, and people who go to Wisconsin Dells can probably also go to Valleyfair for a day.
  18. Everyone has their opinion. Windseeker was better than 90% of the coasters I've been on. That and Nitro are the only two rides that have scared me.
  19. For a Windseeker I'd rather it be in the back half of the park, to give people some reason to go all the way back other than a small 25 year old coaster and a water ride with half the waterfalls broken.
  20. The old Panic Falls body slides aren't bad, but there's better use of the area. They could build something higher and farther back that would incorporate inner tube slides along with some replacement "tame" body slides. As mentioned a mat racer has a large capacity relative to space and staffing needs and could go along the entrance. A flowrider is a marquee attraction and is compact and could fit just about anywhere.
  21. Viewing platforms for guys to watch for wardrobe malfunctions?
  22. Maybe they're building an Imax theater?
  23. Got to make people walk by as many food stands and merchandise booths as possible before getting to the waterpark. No reason they couldn't have just opened up the wooden gate in years past.
