  1. There's room for a pretty nice family play structure next to the new Splash pad where the volleyball court and Looping Starship are. Might make sense to put it there, and replace the existing body and speed slide complex and old splash pad with a new body + tube slide complex.
  2. Does Valleyfair have a license to serve anything but lousy beer? Thinking some vampire themed cocktails this haunt, or a poolside tiki bar next year.
  3. I think Dave is screwing with you..or he's on drugs..or your mistaking talking to Dave in your dreams as reality..all 3 very feasible scenerios.. Delirium like KD is adding has moved to the top on my 2016/2017 list! Rode maXair a few years ago and loved it more than most coasters! I wonder if they would go two years in a row with waterpark additions..how many times do you think the whole, "come out and enjoy the new soak city water park" marketing campaign will work?.. Dave wasn't screwing with us, he said "I want to make a ride, that kids that are to scared for Wild Thing can ride" Now obvious im pissed cause thats just kinda, ugh dumb! That's exactly what Mild Thing was for. I'm still pissed that they removed that coaster. It was my first coaster. That's what the Minnesota River Valley Railroad is for. As for the Flying Scooters, is that just something random that someone thought up and everyone is now jumping on, or is there some actual factual basis to think that? Another "OK" flat ride seems way done list of what the park needs.
  4. For their 30th Anniversary, the park had cotton candy priced at 50 cents - the same price it was when the park opened - all season. They also did various food and drink specials (Corn Dogs for $1, a burger & fries for $2, small soda for 25 cents) throughout the season. I'd guess they'd do something similar for the 40th Anniversary. As far as the speculation of when VF will announce it's 2016 plans, it seems like most people posting here have completely written off the possibility of a coaster for 2016. While I'd guess we would've seen more signs by now if they were planning to build something major, that doesn't mean something major won't be announced. Remember, VF didn't announce Renegade until late September 2006 (Press Release, dated Sept. 21st, 2006). There's still plenty of time for things to happen. The realists here have written off a coaster a long time ago. 1) There's no logical place to put one at the moment 2) If the parking lot permit gets approved, it will be an absolutely massive and expensive project by itself. 3) Soak City is still by far one of the worst ones in the chain. There's still no tube slides and family play area, something even small local waterparks have, to say nothing of more marquee and visually impressive attractions. Cedar Fair is happy with how their last investment turned out.
  5. The restrooms by Monster and SuperCat are original, by the Red Baron was shortly afterwords. The ones by the front gate were later, when they built the walkway that now goes to Steel Venom. Red Garter, or whatever they call it now, and Soak City were obviously later also. I used to change into my swimming suit in a stall in the restroom by SuperCat and rent a lock er for 75 cents, instead of the $8 ones that you had to rent from a person. The new locke rs are expensive but it's nice that you can just use a credit card, and no incentive to be cheap and not use the ones right in Soak City.
  6. Hit the nail on the head there. This is a huge project IF everything gets approved and rolling. IF the project does get rolling, I hope they get rid of that ugly tunnel you walk through to get to Thunder Canyon. I hope we do get this huge project instead of a coaster in 2017-2018. In my opinion, tying together the whole water park with another expansion and finishing up the area with a new parking lot and second entrance would improve the park more than a new coaster at this point and time. Plus this would set up Valleyfair with more options for future additions. Bottom line is, despite some wild suggestions for relocating half the rides in the park, there's only two places a huge new coaster could go 1) The very front of the park 2) The very back of the park #1 is not happening next year because the Dino franchise hasn't expired. #2 is not happening because the infrastructure doesn't exist yet and will be expensive when and if they're allowed to build it.
  7. There's speculation and then there's speculation. Valleyfairs actually filed a permit for the new parking lot. That's speculation. There's not been the least bit of evidence that we'll be getting a Larson Flyers or multiple B&M coasters. That's a different type of speculation. Aren't the restrooms by Riptide and Monster original to the park, with the ones by Wild Thing being built shortly afterwords? I agree they need rebuilding, my WAG would be at least $500,000 a set.
  8. ^^^ Filing for a permit to build a parking lot over Excalibur is a pretty strong hint. I don't have any problem with the entrance either, but I'm wondering about a place that walk through metal detectors could be installed when needed, a more direct connection to Steel Venom and Route 76, and more space for Caribou. I mentioned to Frazier about a second Caribou somewhere towards the back of the park near Renegade or Wild Thing.
  9. A new parking lot could also be "something". As is the brick pavers we've gotten some years.
  10. We could have stopped speculating on a new coaster for next year also as soon as the new parking lot permit showed up.
  11. Think I can get Frazier to give me a tour of the Chateau building after it's set up during the day?...
  12. We had a campground. I'm guessing it didn't bring in that much revenue relative to the space and staff resources it took
  13. True, one thing is for sure, CF can fix a chain faster than Six Flags! (Sorry for any hard feelings) Kingda Ka and Nitro at Cedar Fair New Jersey.
  14. The entrance was redone not too long ago. With the new parking lot I don't see them redoing the front entrance until and unless they build something significant when the dinos leave.
  15. Really, Valleyfair is in business to make money. Sometimes that doesn't involve building a new coaster. I'm sure they have a better idea what makes business sense for them than a bunch of random people on the internet. It seems some posters are implying that they don't know what they're doing when they build a parking lot instead of a coaster, or a waterslide instead of a coaster, or even "infrastructure improvements" instead of a coaster.
  16. They've said nothing. Cedar Fair stating Valleyfair is a "Growth Park" + Years since last coaster + Wishfull thinking is leading to people already picking out potential locations. The scope of the parking lot is not going to be cheap. It cost over $100,000 just for my church to have some dirt moved for 30 parking spaces and used to flatten out a field in back. Just the wetland credits Valleyfair has to buy could equal this. I'd also say there's probably a 100% chance when we get one that it's going to either be out front or in the new space in back. There's no reason for them to spend money to move the Ferris Wheel or anything else around when there's going to be space once the dino's leave and the new parking lot is built.
  17. As far as Hellside moving-Maybe they just want to raze the amphitheater as soon as the park closes during weekdays.
  18. Like the IMAX, Hydroblaster, Flume, and Chaos removal announcements?
  19. Maybe it will be better when decorate at night, but I was hoping for something that looked more like Chateau" as opposed to "Storage Shed"
  20. Seems like a good way to avoid the horrendous lines at SuperCat the rest of the day.
  21. Dave Frazier's on record as liking the neon sign too, but that's history. The "not lose any coasters" might be another personal opinion rather than a business decision. The employee parking lot is strange, I wonder if there's some back stage expansion or reconfiguration planned in the future. I question them boxing themselves in yet again. Assuming the existing Panic Falls gets replaced in-kind with something newer and better, it looks like you have space for only one more marquee water park attraction.
  22. Upthread someone mentioned that guests couldn't behave themselves when out of site of ride operators on the SuperCat. Which is a shame because it was considerably better with the cover on. It does seem like a good idea, if they're going to keep it, to move it to the lame flat rides area (Route 76), along with Wheel of Fortune. For Wheel of Fortunes old site, I'd suggest another Caribou coffee with some indoor and covered outdoor seating. SuperCats site maybe they can reuse the building for a permanent haunt structure, or expand and rebuild the restrooms. If we're going to get a Windseeker, I'd rather have it at the back where there's a higher height limit and to have a weenie to draw people back there. Does Frazier read emails? He never responded to one I sent.
  23. Chaos. People liked it but it was a maintenance and safety nightmare. There was an incident at Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Fair got rid of all them in all the parks, and other chains have been removing them too.
