^A few years ago, I rode Nitro front row in the pouring rain. Me and my friends all thought it was like getting shot repeatedly with air soft guns haha. We had our heads against the lap bar the whole ride. And Nitro's crew is a hit or miss this year. They're either excellent or awful. Same with Bizarro but they're awful more often than they're not.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
El Toro_Ryan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been out to KI yet but the park definitely looks to have a solid coaster line up. Definitely one of the better Cedar Fair coaster collections. -
That's weird. When I was working, we would always empty the train before moving it back and forth during a breakdown. Maintenance usually does that when the collector rails under the cars don't give a proper verify that the lapbars are down far enough. Good thing however is that the ride is switched into manual mode when they move the trains back and forth and in manual mode, the train can't engage the lift hill so while those guests on the train may have been alarmed, they weren't going anywhere. haha

So you're saying the GP got something right?! I'm glad they are filling the spot of Rolling Thunder, but this does nothing to help the crowd balancing of the park. I'm still holding out for a "lake" coaster (assuming Jackson township loses the stick in their butt) I believe the ride is taking the place of the old Balin's Jungle in the Golden Kingdom, not Rolling Thunder's spot. The press release says, "Looping Dragon joins the park’s Golden Kingdom section, which is home to the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride, Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, and the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka." https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/attractions/looping-dragon/news-release I'm guessing the path between the Golden Kingdom and Plaza del Carnival will reopen. And the park is calling it a coaster but it definitely seems more like a flat ride to me.

I've actually heard the exact opposite of that from full time management at the park. I was told no roller coaster would be added next year and nothing would happen with Old Country as well. However, the current plan the park has for next year is not their original plan so the original plan may have been the roller coaster you're talking about. Zumanjaro went way over budget after it opened a month and a half late so I believe that's what changed their minds for next year. Hopefully we'll see this roller coaster in 2016. Other then that, Backwards Batman is definitely happening next year based on that last clue.

Looks like a solid coaster to me. My only question is when will I be able to ride it? -
Weird Coaster Facts

Kingda Ka's original tower without the added supports was actually enough to support Ka and Zumanjaro together. The extra supports were put in place by Intamin incase a major hurricane struck NJ. Image from thrillgeek.com -
Sorry guys, I was just messing with you. I do have more information but I don't believe next year involves Kingda Ka. This is confirmed from management that the new attraction will unfortunately not be in Old Country next year. My guess is that the Old Country area is being saved for a huge new attraction down the road. Hopefully Rolling Thunder's old spot gets used for next year. Most likely if the hill is designed to offer such airtime. That would be awesome if a park went for something like that. The tallest hill could also have no airtime if it was designed to do so.

Weird Coaster Facts

El Toro got to 1 million in the shortest time... that coaster has pretty damn high capacity! Looks like B&M has some capacity competition! Nitro and Skull Mountain are both beating Toro this year. haha I think Toro gave 1.54 million rides in 2010 which is the highest number I'm aware of for the ride. Nitro can hit close to two million. -
^Nice report. Yeah people (including myself) in the area curse left and right. It's bad. And was that op at Bizarro Brian by any chance? I've worked with him a bunch of times and he knows his stuff. And how I see things is that GADV already has a great coaster line up. We could go another year or two without adding a new coaster. Instead, I think the park should just fill in the gaps and try and round out the flat ride collection. Even adding back in the shows the park has lost over the years would be beneficial. I don't think the park really needs something like an El Toro 2.0 right now haha Other Six Flags parks could use new coasters over GADV so I wouldn't have a problem with if we didn't get a coaster.

Worst ride "neuters"
El Toro_Ryan replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I think Raging Bull opened with all of those trims activated like they are now. It was one of B&M's first mega coasters so I guess they were playing it safe. -
If the park is building a new roller coaster, survey marks would be popping up and the forums would be all over it. I haven't heard anything about those. I see a coaster coming at Rolling Thunder's spot, but not next year. Agreed. While I was working, I was told by a higher up that the new ride next year would not be a coaster. I've also heard rumors from other employees that the ride next year was originally slated to be a coaster but that plan was pushed back after Zumanjaro went over budget. Whether that's true, I'm not sure. The higher up did tell me that we would appreciate the new addition though

Probably from a silly computer error. A lot of times, block discrepancies occur for no reason. Suddenly, you'll go from having two trains on the track to the computer thinking there are three trains or more depending on the ride. I was working Bizarro one time when that happened and next thing you knew, all 5 blocks on the ride were occupied. (We were running three trains) When that happens, you get no movement until it's cleared in the computer.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
El Toro_Ryan replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite is definitely Bizarro with all of the helixes and bunny hills. I think the worst would be Intimidator at Carowinds in my opinion. That little helix just didn't do anything for me.
