GCI coasters are great, but their retracking is pretty bad. The coasters turn out smooth, but that's about it. They turn out rather forceless and boring compared to their previous incarnations. Timber Wolf is an example. Use to have ejector airtime and decently steep drops. Now it has a little floater airtime and ramps. Always wish for RMC instead. ALWAYS. Knott's fans are in for a surprise if they think Ghostrider will be the best woodie in California next month. Okay, well I don't care who re-tracks it as long as they do a great job and maintain the airtime! I just wouldn't want to see Mighty Canadian Minebuster get RMC'd as I enjoy this coaster the way it is, especially since it has some historical significance of being modeled after the Shooting Sat at Coney Island (Cincinnati). They have been retracking wildebeast and the parts they did have been great. At the rate they are going it will take another 3 years to finish it though... If they were to hire the same contractors to bring back minebuster to original condition, It would be awesome.( i know they changed the out and back airtime hills ) With some decent track that coaster really hauls a$$ and would be a lot of fun. -

It was a really fun coaster but If you can't maintain your woodie you aren't going to make anybody happy. -

I am going next weekend staying in a cabin at lighthouse point with some friends. We are probably going to drive I90 from buffalo Does anybody know, is there a good grocery store somewhere on the way for snacks/ breakfast food/ beer? I want to pick up some local microbrewery beer if possible. Does Ohio have separate beer distributors or is it at grocery stores/ gas stations? We leave sunday and i thought we might get brunch on the way home. anybody know of any good spots to go? -

saying you like it is fine. saying it is not rough: nope doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things though. -

nope. wrong. I don't think your point is valid. Maybe if you elaborate on it a bit more I could understand your reasoning a little better? I have been riding minebuster for 30 years, and have some really fond memories of it. I rode it a few times last year and found that the front car was the only one i could sit in. The out and back is fun with a bit of rattling around that gives it the 'vintage feel'. The biggest problem is the Helix. When running better it was awesome coming flying through a tunnelled downward spiral before flying up into the final brakerun. Today the helix is so bashed up your cars spend their time bashing left and right. if you sit in a car further back, the car in front pulls you back and forth and you bash the sides and then the one behind pulls you a different way and you just wind up smashing around. Lateral city. This also takes away from the speed as it it spends all it's energy bashing you around. so when you say " I don't find it rough at all." my only answer can be: nope. wrong. On a positive note, the Wildebeast is much better with the repairs they have done this year and last. It had gotten brutally unrideable and needed work. The first drop that turns as you go down is a lot of fun after repairs, and this years repairs are great as well. You go much faster through the course when you are not rattling around. It reminds me why i really liked it in the first place, and at the rate they are going, in 3-5 years it will be awesome. -

Does anybody know when they hope to open valravn? It looks like they have got much of the track in place, and then they need to do all of the electrical/ pneumatic/ installation work, test it, and sign off with safety authorities before being ready to send guests around the track. I am planning a trip with friends the second week they are open (may 19-22) and wonder what the odds are that it will be running. Obviously they may run into unforseen events that they did not forsee, but does CP usually get their new attractions running for opening day? I was also wondering: will the park be busy if it is up and running? I would suspect that early season crowds might be smaller because cold and kids still in school. Does anybody know for example when they opened gatekeeper: did it open for opening day? and was it crowded because of the new coaster? -

Time Warp is a zamperla volare to be precise: http://www.zamperla.com/products/volare/ but is it still a good head bang. -
Does anybody know which scrap yard they were sending the track to? somewhere i saw reference to a blog that had pictures but couldn't find it. This is kinda a stretch, but i wondered about buying a piece. i don't know if there are any intellectual property issues preventing this, but it would be neat. I own a brewery and would put it on display in the taproom. I am also guessing it is really really heavy, so i don't know what would be affordable/ practical???

Leafs Nation! Ya gotta believe! (because watching them actually play is painful) wow that is some bucket list item. I'd hate to see the rest. does it involve marathoning a SLC headbanger? Why don't you take a road trip to Chicago, hit Great America and watch a real hockey team! -

It is nice to see our home park through a visitor's eyes. Sometimes we take for granted what we have. I'll trade you Flight Deck for Whizzer, or even just a 'player to be named later...' => "It would be an awesome ride if it wasn't so rough.": Because SLC headbanger! -

I got a platinum pass this year, so i have been in the habit of showing up early and riding a few hours and then leaving to do other things when it gets busy. I might actually do this on saturday if you want to meet up for a bit send me an email. I also like to build up to the bigger coasters and not just hit the biggest one first. I usually try to hit the lower capacity rides when it is early and less busy. I would go up the right side of the mountain and hit Thunder run, The Fly (wild mouse coaster), maybe Clockwerks (huss swing around), then over to vortexx (arrow suspended). You could do guardian, or wait unti the hot part of mid day to get out of the sun. You can then go to the behemoth side and ride time warp (zamperla volare with really low capacity but crappy ride), Flight Deck (SLC HeadBanger), back to Back lot stunt coaster (premier lim launched - themeing), Behemoth then Orbiter (one of few remaining Huss Giant Enterprise) , Sledge hammer, Psyclone (mondial top spin?), over to Mighty Canadian Minebuster (out and back woodie with brutal hexagonal helix) or you can go to Leviathan side and do The Bat (vekoma boomerang) Wilde Beast (woodie, partly repaired first drop) Night Mares (hussUFO), Leviathan, The rage (pirate ship), Spinovator (spinning buckets), Dragon Fyre (arrow looper), Rip Tide Probably don't need flash pass, but i don't know. if it gets busy i just go home and come back another day. -

It would be nice if cedar fair has a good experience with gerstlauer and then goes on to put in some of their coasters. I would rather have a few small but fun coasters rather than a big huge one. 3x $6 million coasters would be better to me than 1x $28 million coaster. -

I don't see how you could find Magnum's airtime any where close to "comfortable and gentle." It is abslouelty painfully rough. When you ride a coaster once and have bruises from the airtime it's not really gentle. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but when I think "comfortable and gentle" airtime... Magnum is the LAST coaster that comes to mind. After riding Magnum, i concluded: Arrow never did learn how to build a rollercoaster. -

We just had one and they rebuilt the splash works entrance... they are done with water parks compare ours to others and it's a damn decent water park... Sorry but based on the news sites with quotes this is another big coaster They will never be "done" with splash works. In the past they have made upgrades in back to back years. I know that was under different ownership but it's possible there's more to come soon. And when you say "news sites" are you still referring to last year's article that you've been quoting recently It's a valid source, that talks about a multi year redevelopment project and that it's large in scale and if you look at 2008 and recent years you can expect large project. Thats what was said it came from top park officials so it's a valid source to quote... Dippin dots guy? -

Um, you don't know if they're getting a coaster in 2017. It could be a waterpark expansion for all we know. dude I'm sorry, I know your expecting a massive coaster at Kings Dominion in 2017 but the news articles and the massive amount of land clearing and orange markers pretty much screams were getting a coaster in 2017. In fact there was so much activity we thought it was 2016. Like they always say don't predict till you see land clearing and other signs of coaster construction and well, we have seen them, infact we have more going on at our park then Cedar Point does for theyre 2016 coaster Nothing is for sure until the first train leaves the station. Their investment in little orange flags may be a long term investment.
