  1. Think about this Summer in the Midwest versus just last year. Temps in the hundreds well into August last year, record LOWS in July and August this year. In my opinion, this is the closest we've had to say, Estes Park, CO weather, since 1994. We've yet to experience a wait longer than 5 minutes on any of our visits this year, and I'm including visits where you actually had to wait in line for Ninja.
  2. The most informative piece of this interview, IMO? Mike Huckabee is a rollercoaster enthusiast. I had no idea. (Please don't ban me!)
  3. Good theming and the lap bar cars would be best, imagine all the possibilities with the hillside near the Ninja(where the corkscrews are now)! Although, it would be great to get a Giant Frisbee in the place of Xcalibur, which is down every time I visit. Good news is, Xcalibur has been up and running each of the eight visits we've taken since the "opening" of Boomerang. Bad news is... EIGHT visits where The 8YO and I STILL have yet to ride Boomerang.
  4. Trees aren't growing through the ride, but it is definetly inoperable. Rumor has it that a new ride will take that spot soon. Well, my eyes aren't as young as yours. As for your new ride jab... SHADDUP.
  5. And I thought I saw someone mention before (could be wrong) that they were told that the old barrel ride in the park was still operable? Not in some time judging by the height of the trees growing up through the ride pretty much everywhere now. SFStL Hannibarrel/Powderkeg
  6. Right now I'd have been happier if they would have spruced up the bumper cars and the building that housed them. Would have saved a fortune as well.
  7. Not gonna give a lengthy trip report from our latest visit, but I'm only going to mention that we arrived at SFStL around 11a today, and... Boomerang closed. Again. This makes the 6th time since it first "opened" that we have tried to ride the damn thing. Can we just classify this thing as SBNO and be done with it? A couple of attendants were stationed outside of it letting people down as we approached, and they said that not only was it closed again today, but, "it was closed for a time last week(?) because of STRUCTURAL ISSUES." I have no idea what that entails. Just passing along what was said.
  8. You must be one of those rare people who fall withing a specific torso height, to where arrow/vekoma rides don't beat you to death. I envy this. Fixed. Ok, I've heard the complaints before, but I'm 5'11" (and shrinking). My 8YO boy is 53 1/2" tall. Neither one of us has ever experienced a "head banging" ride on Ninja, yet my wife refuses to ride it for the same reasons many of you hate it, and I've been riding it for years since it first opened. It's so pleasant and smooth a ride for us, my son and I usually have everyday, mundane, conversations as we ride it over and over again as the night progresses.
  9. Two weeks later... I'll take this as a "no."
  10. Ninja? If only because I'd fall asleep from the sheer boredom after three rides. But if I could snag the first car on The Boss? Piece of cake. Any further back? my brains would be scrambled after 45 minutes. Most would consider it an improvement.
  11. Boomerang at SFStL, because I'm apparently never going to get a bleeping chance to ride it anyway.
  12. It's not near the Ferris Wheel off 70 by chance?
  13. So I get off work early enough to pick up my 8YO and head over to finally ride Boomerang after 3 previous unsuccessful tries. Roll into the park around 5:45p, find a spot in the second row as the lot is sparse and people are leaving the Harbor. Walk right in with nobody checking at the metal detectors, nobody in line to enter the park, and we grin as we see people are walking onto just about everything as we make our way to the back of the park and our first ride on Boomerang... Only to find a sign reading "Boomerang will be operating from 10:30a - 6p. ...... The 8 YO decided to ride Superman a dozen times in a row instead, (I bowed out after three drops) and then we spend the rest of the night running between all of the OPEN coasters in the park. It's been three years since we took a trip on Thunder River, so we decided we needed a cooling off from the 95+ temps. I don't remember it being that, how do I put it... lame? Oh well. Half of me got wet. On a happy note, the first two cars of the Boss are STILL super smooth no matter what time of day we ride, and I have no brain damage to report. On my favorite note of the night, I'm not sure what was different about American Thunder today, but we were getting ridiculous air time in the back seat. I mean on EVERY ride. So much so that I couldn't keep my hands up in the air no matter how hard I tried. Truly a brilliant ride made even better. This must be one of the most underrated coasters in the Midwest. Love it that we have this gem at SFStL.
  14. Dude... it's H.S. You're supposed to change your mind every few weeks about the people you want to date, how long you want to date, etc. That's how you avoid doing it when you are older and married... and divorced... and re-married... and unhappy because you didn't "date around" to figure out what you really wanted from a relationship when you were younger. I'd much rather have my heart "broken" a dozen times in HS/College than to ever go thru a divorce. I'm teaching my 8YO the same thing. And don't get married until you are near 30.
  15. 'Friday' - Rebecca Black
  16. Are you gonna make biscuits?
  17. Hello, everybody. Long time caller, first time listener here... My name is BDFS, and I'm a Coasterholic. I love small government, and big women. I frequently start conversations with strangers in the middle of the Kroger parking lot. I type poorly. (Never had ONE lesson.) I named my sons Walker, and Texas Ranger. I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt. 'Cause it says like, I wanna be formal but I’m here to party too. I like to party, so I like my Jesus to party. I like to quote movies starring Will Ferrell. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I also love the movie 'Bull Durham.' I don't believe you can reason with animals, young children, or "riff-raff." I always return my shopping cart to the cart corral. I don't text and drive. I FaceTime and drive. I'm generally a very happy person. I've already said too much... Will you be my friend?
