  1. Now, to me, Scream is a ride that desperately cries out for something to make it better. To me, Scream is a massive joke. It looked like a stunt performed by Six Flags to keep their MM coaster count up at the time and I'm shocked they haven't even attempted to theme the parking lot. Unless of course the parking lot was supposed to be the theme! It's annoying to me in the UK because our best parks are crippled by height restrictions and there isn't as much money to throw about but on the other hand this resulted in the creation of Nemesis at Alton Towers. Still seen as one of the best coasters in the world (perhaps the best B&M inverted). It was built in a pit to reduce it's outside visibility and is so small (in height terms) that it doesn't really have a main drop... it builds up speed right to the end as a result of the huge thought that had to go into the design. The theming is also great so you can enjoy it while you ride. Number 1 on my 'want to ride list' is Alpengeist. I do think better theming is key but I haven't experienced the opposite properly. Going to a US park where building big is the main attraction will be a welcome break for me.
  2. Coaster: Colossus at Thorpe Park. I can't ride as many times per visit because there are so many more coasters now than in 2002 but I've ridden it around 50 times. I love the little airtime hump before the Cobra Roll. Flat: A Sonacase Twister at a local seaside family park. It's been there since I was 9 years old and I always have a ride when I'm in the area. Never any waiting line so it's a case of buying a wrist band and riding til' you're sick! I have no idea how many - probably close to 100 if not more. Water: I'm not a fan of wet rides (even in the summer) but Logger's Leap at Thorpe Park is my highest. Although I don't like getting wet the airtime from the flat in the middle of the main drop is petrifying... to the point where my relief that the log hasn't fallen out of the channel at the bottom is greater than my annoyance at having wet feet! As for coaster count I don't agree with counting rides per coaster. I'd find it much more impressive to see somebody who has 50 but has travelled the world and counts each coaster as 1, than somebody who has 500 but has just visited SFMM many times and counts rides per coaster. Just my opinion.
  3. For fellow IT workers out there... A true gem I found on The Register a few months back: "I've got 99 problems but a Switch ain't one". Often sums up my week.
  4. Hi all, My name is Matt and I'm 24yrs old, from London, UK. I've been browsing TPR and watching TPR POVs on Youtube for years now but never thought to join before! My coaster count is a cute 33 (UK only) but I have big ambitions . My local park is Thorpe Park. My favourite coaster is Nemesis (Alton Towers) and my 'guilty pleasure', in a close second is Grand National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I've been an enthusiast since I was about 10yrs old when I rode my first looping coaster (a super rough Pinfari Zyklon 42 called Looping Star). My 'thing' for coasters is how they look. I think when they are designed well and have a good theme and colour they look like a piece of artwork. For this reason Nemesis is a treasured coaster for me. I enjoy watching them nearly as much as I enjoy riding them. I'm petrified of heights so the only coasters that really scare me are ones that are 200ft + in height but that just adds to the thrill. 'In real life' I work as a network admin and my main hobbies are snowboarding, gaming and playing bass guitar.
  5. Wow, looking back over the years people were complaining about 1hr queues. I waited nearly 3hrs for Swarm at TP a few weeks after opening. It seemed endless and the sound effect of breaking metal was so loud over the speakers. I heard the fake news report so many times I pretty much memorised it! Longest though was Saw, again not long after opening. It was a very hot day (for the UK anyway) and there was no shelter at all. It 'broke down' at least 3 times while I was waiting and I had to watch it run empty for at least 30mins. All in all I waited just under 4hrs. Not bad for somebody who doesn't particularly like Eurofighters. Needless to say I haven't been on since. I'd rather get 3 goes on Colossus .
