  1. It's a crapshoot to know for sure. Keep in mind that if you're thinking about Goliath, the Platinum pass is the only one that works there and it's only good for one ride for the day on Goliath. Otherwise, I guess I would be inclined to get to the park way early, get to Goliath as soon as the park opens and then wait the 1-2 hours to get a ride. If you're interested in shorter lines on the other coasters than pre-buy a Gold Flashpass online, go pick it up after you ride Goliath and have at it. Everything is going to be busy on a Saturday, especially if the weather is nice. Since I mentioned weather, predicting crowds is about as reliable as predicting weather.
  2. They need to disclose that in advance (the part about it being good for only ride). I can understand their reason for limiting to one but it needs to be in writing before you purchase it, especially for an online purchase. Someone else pointed out Platinum was good for two uses when X-Flight opened but I suppose with lesser capacity on Goliath they opted for just one. I may send off an email or two just to suggest they disclose that on the online purchase portal.
  3. I'm curious why you only got one ride on Goliath with Flashpass? Was it just a time thing because of riding other rides...Or something else?
  4. I really wish everyone that posts here and those that ride American Eagle could have ridden this beauty when it first opened. It wasn't smooth by today's standards but it was such a fun ride! It was faster, had better airtime, ok, it was much smoother than today, and it was a gorgeous ride to look at. It was the biggest coaster I had ever ridden at the time and I remember being absolutely awestruck by the experience. Ah, the good old days.
  5. Awesome post! If this were facebook I would "like" the above posts eleventy billion times.
  6. I've been to several different parks over the years and in most cases the other parks aren't any different than SFGAm for storms. You're pretty much on your own to find shelter once the announcements. Holiday World is about the only exception I can think of. We were directed to specific buildings depending on where we were in the park. None were employee areas.
  7. There was some discussion a couple pages back with pictures. Goliath has the new style restraints. Outlaw Run was also fitted with the new style before the start of this season. Night and day difference with the newer style.Much more comfortable than what I experienced with outlaw Run last year..
  8. If they're using it as they intended there's a separate gate with a divider that runs up the entry stairs. I haven't actually seen it in actaion but that's the way others have described it. It also sounds like some single riders have been sent through there. Goliath is Platinum FlashPass only.
  9. I wish they would do like SDC did when Outlaw Run opened and do a walkback with security instead of the stampede.
  10. Think "running of the bulls" when they drop the chain. It's fine to get there early so you can be at the chain when it drops but if you don't keep up with the stampede you'll be a long ways back in line in a hurry.
  11. Can't say I disagree with much of what you said with a bit of a qualifier. I rode once toward the front and once second from the back and it is two very different rides. Both positions were very re-ridable but the back was much more forceful and the airtime hill was insane back there. I'd give a slight edge to Outlaw Run sitting toward the front but I liked Goliath better toward the back. I miss the corkscrew element but there is so much going on with Goliath. There are some surprising moments and the stall is just....Really hard to describe. I'd echo one other thing you said, there were some real whiners amongst us and I'm happy to say none that I heard were wearing TPR shirts. Yes, it can be frustrating but you have to come into media events with the right mindset and to always expect the unexpected. Some people still seem to think it's ERT time. Nope, never really has been that way at any events I've attended. I can't wait to get back to ride some more! Thankfully I have two passes that will at least make for a couple shorter waits. For those with those passes, a reminder that on a ride like Goliath that has a FlashPass line...You have to use that line. It's not a true "exit pass" for rides with Flashpass according to what the PR folks said. For those that were there....Might be nice to drop a note in the mail to Katy Enrique and her staff to say thanks.
  12. I'm with you on that one. The gladiators were a nice touch and looked good until they came up close. They just started to pile in and it just looked bad. It would have been much more effective if they marched in to the ride's queue instead of doing some awkward trot/run. I know this is Six Flags, but I feel that if you are going to go with something, they should plan it out first. It's a little corny but I guess the parks feel like they need to do that stuff. Someone mentioned the train and the train station.....I don't think they've replaced a section of missing track around the Goliath construction yet. They may have in the last couple days...I don't know for sure.
  13. According to the PR folks the red train will be state inspected today and ready for opening tomorrow.
  14. There have been various reports saying that but no one has reported seeing any signage. I'll ask on media Day. I'm quite often a single rider so I'd like to know too. Same here, but I can't seem to find an original source on this. My guess is that it's just a rumour that spread too far. At 1:11 Thanks! Guess I missed that Goliath Insider.
  15. Actually, while SFGAm had the first Batman it is still fun to ride them all. They do ride a bit differently and if I remember right the turn to the first drop on the one at SFStL is opposite of SFGAm. Great trip report....Thanks!
  16. There have been various reports saying that but no one has reported seeing any signage. I'll ask on media Day. I'm quite often a single rider so I'd like to know too.
  17. (From the interview) 800 people per hour. Not when it first opens I bet.
  18. No one that I know (myself included) has heard anything as of this afternoon. Not sure how many they were picking but of the several I know that applied no one had been picked.
  19. I honestly can't tell but I think that's still the orange train...Iff you look to the left of Thrillseekers through the trees it still looks like the red train is on the lower storage track. That's where it was earlier today when I was there.
  20. This has nothing to do with Goliath......Something I don't understand from a marketing/operations standpoint. American Eagle has a tremendous amount of advertising for #blueside tied in with The Blue Man Group. There is a ton of signage around the coaster and they've handed out flyers, etc at the parking entry as well. But, they start the day using the red side only and don't open blue until later, if it all. Why not just use the blue side if that's a prmotion?
  21. Polyurethane or something similar...at least for now.
  22. A friend of mine was at the park most of yesterday. No test runs as of 4pm or so. He said they did roll the train back into the station from the transfer track around 4 or so but figured that was to get it out of the weather that might me coming later. Other than that, quite a bit of activity on various parts of the layout throughout the day.
  23. Even though this question really doesn't belong in this thread.....I was told by one of the Sups. that at some point they want to use the biometric (fingerprint) technology for re-entry as well and eliminate hand stamps. The ultraviolet scanners they used to use have been retired as they didn't fit well with the new scanners at the entry gates.
  24. I spent some time at the park today. As of mid-afternoon they hadn't done any test runs. I've heard varying things about testing. Two different employees told me that it has to undergo 100 hours of testing. I have no idea if that's accurate or not. One of those told me the target was to have the ride open by June 11. Take that for what it's worth. As we all know, employees don't always have the right information. They were doing quite of bit of work on the transfer track today. Lots of grinding noises. I did see them lower and raise the train a couple times on the transfer platform. They were also working toward the bottom of the lift hill.
  25. That's totally true. It could very well be a set of exceptional circumstances. On that note....is Raging Bull running 3 trains yet this year? Does X-Flight have its second train on yet? One of the construction guys I talked with briefly (through the fence) last weekend wouldn't be specific but he basically said "There were some problems they had to work through." That's about all he would say. I would suspect part of this might have involved some of the track supports that were removed in a couple places and then replaced a few days later. I work around construction constantly and some things just can't be accounted for. Delays happen. Other parks have had plenty of delays as well. It happens. While we as coaster enthusiasts make take more of an interest in these rides then John Q. Public I don't think that means we have to be told every detail as to why something is delayed. As of last weekend Bull was still running just two trains.Usually they have the third one ready to roll by early June.
