  1. ^This page has links to the OC health inspections for ALL the food outlets -- even Dippin' Dots, which apparently had evidence of animals. http://ocdisneyblog.com/2013/01/03/a-look-at-knotts-berry-farms-restaurants-food-safety-record/
  2. Yeah, not sure what to make of the Xcellerator's paint job... Too difficult to paint? Boomerang looks good. Did anyone else read the Orange County health inspection reports for the park's restaurants? PR disaster. They really need to evaluate their practices.
  3. Psycho Mouse at CGA permits 44" riders if accompanied by a responsible adult.
  4. "^ Knott's isn't Disney so it's pointless to compare. Also, Families make parks money, that's what they are interested in, not what makes enthusiasts warm and inspired. Some day enthusiast will realize these are businesses and not personal playgrounds... well, maybe not." What I said wasn't a critique of the rides but the artwork itself - color choices, execution - isn't very appealing. I should have explain better. I applaud the decision to market the park to families and to install family friendly attractions, though honestly I think there are modern flat rides that would also have been good choices. Although unfair, people will compare the parks because they are so close together and have some similarity (Timber Mountain Log Ride inspired Splash Mountain, Calico Mine Ride inspired Big Thunder Mountain, DCA has a mouse and now Knott's has a mouse.) It's so awesome Raffi and Matt Ouimet are restoring, upgrading and cleaning the park. They still have a lot of neglect to catch up on. Something like Dollywood's Adventure Mountain would be perfect for Camp Snoopy. Instead of a new coaster, how about an X2/Superman style makeover of an existing ride?
  5. "Is this Boardwalk expansion leaving anyone else rather cold? I get the whole family park argument, which I think is legitimate, but this whole project seems sort of "blah" and uninspired to me. (Maybe I'm just still upset they took PP out... haha)" The artwork isn't very inspiring, IMO, but it will look amazing at night. I hope they will include some theming Disney hasn't thought of yet for Paradise Pier.
  6. I like the Pony Express experience, riding on horse, the weak-ish launch feels surprisingly strong in that position. It's too bad they didn't purchase an extra 1K feet of track to go over Bigfoot Rapids. The best time to ride is on a weekday morning when the ops will let you ride again if there is no line. Two spins feels like a real ride. Length makes Manta superior.
  7. Jaguar, even considered as a family coaster, has always been disappointing to me. The pyramid looks amazing, you think you're in for something really special...you proceed up a promising lift only to find the train is so long that half of the drop (more of a decline) is wasted before it picks up speed. You then realize it sounds and feels like you're riding the rails in a shopping cart - rough and noisy. The speed you gather is quickly lost and you barely roll along a flat section of track at a leisurely pace, through Monty's loop. You hope the second lift hill brings excitement, but it's just long, gradual decline followed more stretches of flat track and an even-bumpier helix. It makes Big Thunder Mountain seem like the wildest ride in the wilderness. They could improve it by scrapping it and replacing it with a Euro-Fighter that would follow roughly the same layout, reusing the pyramid queue. Aren't three family coasters enough?
  8. Wouldn't turbulence in the reclining position be uncomfortable, comparable to the Vekoma headbanging?
  9. It didn't seem rough at the time. It was just fun, not terrifying, more like a looping mine train. Back then Knott's was a true alternative to Disney.
  10. Sorry to hear about Boomerang's new paint, they must be planning on keeping it for a while. I was hoping an El Loco would soon be in that spot. Also would much rather see Xcelerator completely repainted before worrying about Boomerang, it looks awful now.
