I don't understand the perception that Kentucky Kingdom is a bigger park than HW... Because it's not!
In its last season of operation, SFKK had about half the attendance of HW. It sits on a much smaller footprint. The 800 seasonal employees they estimate will be hired next year is far fewer than HW hires each season.
No doubt, there are new wrinkles and challenges involved with the Louisville location, but this new operation is a fraction of the size of Holiday World so I don't think that should be so big a concern.

I know it's probably already been discussed somewhere in here, but the new Scion model, the FR-S, is coming out this Spring. It's Scion's first RWD car, as well as being Toyota's first in a while, if I'm recalling my facts correctly. Here's hoping it'll drive as nicely as it looks.
It doesn't look like that anymore, but it nevertheless doesn't look bad. Take a look at this review of it and its Subaru twin:

Yeah, they don't get the glory of being on TV--and Tyler mentioned they may not even get their prize money because the episode never aired.
Which means that they drank donkey semen for no good reason... other than to enjoy the cool, refreshing taste of donkey semen, of course.

I agree that the system should work better with tighter control. I never was one to use a Fastpass return ticket after expiration, except in cases when the ride was down when we tried to return and the Cast Member offered that accommodation. I don't expect anything to change when legitimate situations like that occur; the park will likely continue to allow such exceptions.
The complaining I'm seeing really bugs me. Perhaps it's bit of a stretch, but it's symptomatic of attitudes we see in society overall, specifically "the rules shouldn't apply to me," and "nothing is ever my own fault."
Well, now the rules WILL apply to everyone, as it should have been all along. Good for Disney!
And if you miss your return window, guess what? It IS your own fault! Unless you were on board a ride when it broke down and were trapped inside for an extended time, there's NO excuse for missing your return window.
- You were in a long line for another ride? The wait time was posted before you got in the queue, and nobody MADE you stay in line as your return time expired.
You stopped for a meal and missed your time? You knew what time you had to be back at the ride, you no doubt saw how many people were ahead of you at the food location, so you should have chosen to eat after your ride.
You were on the other side of the park? Again, you knew what time you had to return to the ride. It's on you.
There was a parade and you couldn't make it to the ride? Parade times are posted. Plan better next time.
It may take some time as in-the-know guests adjust to these changes, but I'm hopeful that the majority of them can handle it like adults, with minimal whining. I'm not gonna bet on it though.

This rule change is no good for families, which I thought was who Disney wanted to please.

I don't quite know if it's in the same size or price range, but the Mazda CX-5 (which should start showing up in the next month or so) has been getting some pretty solid reviews. Unlike the Tribute, it's an all-Mazda design from the ground up.
Being a new model, there may be potential for some teething issues, but you might want to check it out.

Randomly noticed something today...

I have been to The Canyons a couple of times, and have enjoyed it. It's the easiest of the resorts to reach from the airport, so it's great for a day trip if you're flying in. However, it's also at a lower elevation than the other resorts, so it gets warmer temperatures and this can affect the snow quality and coverage.
My visits to The Canyons have been either following or during big snow dumps, so I've seen it at its best. My plan of attack the last time I went was to get as far as possible from the top of the gondola as quickly as possible (which takes a little while, because as you noted, it's very spread out), and I found plenty of untouched powder a full hour or two after the lifts opened. I'd certainly go back!
In case you're interested, my trip report from one of my Utah trips can be found here.

Sadly, none of the trails at Deer Valley are snowboard-friendly.
I've been there (only to eat), and I agree it looks very nice. But they don't allow snowboards, so I won't be buying any lift tickets until that changes.
Fortunately there are fine choices like Snowbird and The Canyons a short drive away!

Will they be drinking from a glass, or... not?
-
If they could get the in-car video and audio to work consistently, that would be an improvement.
-
Where do they host this? Is it in a venue that's used for anything else?
The description on the website says that you don't need park admission to attend, so I'm guessing it's somewhere near the front of the park and accessible by one of the alternate entrances.

Silverwood is a great park, and their waterpark features a swim-up bar in the lazy river. You can float along the river with your drink in hand, which is always a plus.
If you haven't yet, check out the Puyallup Fair during one of its runs, as it's basically a traditional park that operates for only a short while each year. The wooden coaster isn't bad, and it's historically significant.
And if you have a passport, I hear the wooden coaster at Playland in Vancouver, BC is one of the best in the world. I haven't had the pleasure, but since you're so close I'd say you should put that on your list!

^ wow. Seriously wow.
That's really impressive. I do realise it's just a curtain of water but with a fancy projection system however, it is fascinating.
It took me a little bit of time to work it out myself, I could see kids being taken with it, it's rather mesmerising actually.
It's actually a bit more involved than that - it's not only a projection on a water curtain; this system "draws" images with drops of water. That's why everything you see is moving downward and stretching out as it falls - because the individual droplets of water are accelerating as they fall through space.
Combined with projectors and lighting, it makes for a really nice effect!
A similar system has been seen at car shows:

I'm just replying so that I can say "Ballplay."
Tee-hee!

Move on over to the right of the picture and if you see a house on a road...[name of road deleted, in case you wish to also do the same] That's where I live.!! SO close, Right!!
You just gave everyone directions to your house.

looks like it was put together out of random junk.
That's because it was put together out of random junk!

YES, love City Museum and love that TPR has embraced it! Thanks for the report. Now go back!
-
What was your favorite scarezone? Mine was the one with fences and people dressed as gigantic Frisbees.
-
Whatever it is, I hope it has at least five (5) preshows.

I'm wondering why it is so hard for the park to make it more obvious to guests that there is a kennel on premises so they don't have to continue rescuing dogs by breaking into guests car windows?
New name for the park:
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Dog Kennel
(and theme park)

Lagoon is really quite easy to reach from many places in the West, thanks to the magic of air travel.
Most major cities in the West have nonstop service on Southwest, and Delta operates a hub there, so that covers a number of other cities as well. I actually once did a day-trip there via Southwest from Phoenix, and it worked quite nicely! (There's a TR on here somewhere.)
All this is a long way of saying: if you live in the West, quit making excuses and just go to this park already! It really is nice, and it's easier to reach than you think. (And great TR, Derek!)

About the only things they kept in the transition to Wet 'n Wild Phoenix from Waterworld were the wave pool, river, buildings and one slide tower (but not the slides themselves--just the tower structure). All the waterslides are new, and everything else rehabbed. So it was a substantial demolition/construction project - and they did have a somewhat late opening for its first season.
That said, I think, based on the scale of the Hawaiian Falls parks that these Vegas folks have been associated with, this will be a smaller-scale park that should be able to be put up fairly quickly. I've seen similar-sized waterpark projects completed in just three months, so it is possible. Hope it all comes together!

Hollywood Drive-In Golf's Facebook page says that they'll be open by this Wednesday, possibly sooner.
Are there mini golf enthusiasts camped out to be first yet?
