  1. mass panic that caused those traffic jams killed more people than the hurricane itself. We will see the same with this virus...

I hope you are right but all of the doctors, nurses and other people I know in the health care system (family and friends) have the opposite view from yours.

France and Spain just shut down, that isn't done for the flu or irrational panic.

The whistleblower doctor in Wuhan, China was 34 when he died of this.

The US Surgeon General said today elective surgeries should no longer happen in our country to focus medical resources. I can't remember that ever having been said before.

The main thing hospitals are worried about with this is that they could get overwhelmed with Cornavirus patients and not have enough resources to help others. We haven't see this yet here but in countries like Italy where a large proportion of their population is over 65 it has been a disaster. Again people under 65 are UNLIKELY to have serious complications from COVID19 unless they have some other condition that weakens their immune system.

  2. This is getting absolutely insane, my local Target is completely stripped bare and all the schools just closed for at least a week all for a virus that gives 90% of people flu like symptoms at worst. I understand that the elderly and immune-compromised need to take this virus seriously but shutting down society and causing people to panic is doing more damage to the country and the global economy than the virus. Needless to say the only time I remember people panicking as much as they are now is this:

    When was this?!!

Hurricane Rita evacuation 2005, mass panic that caused those traffic jams killed more people than the hurricane itself. We will see the same with this virus...

  3. People saying this is just like the flu need to look up the mortality rates and see how well Italy's hospitals are doing.

Italy is having problems because their population is old (average age is 46 years old while the US's average age is 38). The Coronavirus generally only severely effects those over 65 and those with weak immune systems. Those under 65 with normally functioning immune systems (85-90% of the population) either show no symptoms at all or develop flu like symptoms that are gone after a week or two. I'm not saying we shouldn't take this seriously but that the panic that's been going on the last week is causing more problems for society than the virus itself is atm

  5. Honestly I think the reason alot of these parks are closing is not to contain the virus but instead to save money. Disney and Universal in particular rely on tourists for a majority of their guests and right now the airline industry is in the tank with many people posting videos of empty airplanes on social media. Less people flying to Orlando = less people going to Disney and Universal and if Disney and Universal are going to lose money running their parks why should they stay open?

  6. For anyone interested in auctions, here is one for you.

Supposedly they are cleaning up the town hall getting rid of antiques that have no ties to the history of Cedar Point to make room for new historical displays.

And some other rumors I am hearing that is not going to make many people happy...

    - for the 150 anniversary the midway is being redone

    - removal of the sky ride

    - removal of Wicked Twister (going to another park)

    - maXair being moved to different location within the park

    - The old ballroom removed

Maybe these aren't new rumors and who knows if any of this is true. I guess time will tell.

I hope to god they dont get rid of the Ball Room building or Sky Ride, both are very important to the history of CP.

  7. Visiting on Oct. 27. Don't really care about credits so I'd be ok with msising Superman since my homepark is SFOG. What do you think the proper route is to make sure I can knock it all out in time? Was thinking Kingda Ka> El Toro > Bizarro > freespin > wonder woman > Nitro. Would also like to try the safari as I see that is the last operating day. Hoping crowds wont be too bad during the early afternoon. Planning to be there from opening-5.

Do the Safari first, the line for that thing grows very quickly.

  8. Does Wicked Twister have lots of maintenance issues? Is it closed often?

I really can't seem them scrapping it unless it's as much of a headache as Volcano was, but then again Cedar Fair is kinda giving zero f**ks lately with their ride removals in the last couple years so they could easily just scrap the ride. That is, assuming it's even on the chopping block. That rumor has been around for years so I'll believe it when I see it I suppose.

Its more reliable than TTD if that says anything. IMO if WT is removed I can see it being moved to a smaller park like CGA or Michigans Adventure.

  9. I could see parks thinking: "Why add an observation tower when we would add a Windseeker. People will still get great views, but it would be way more thrilling, and great for marketing."

Honestly, "The worlds tallest swing ride" sounds a lot better than "Come try our all new observation tower!" ... Just my $0.02 though.

Exactly, the star flyer/Windseeker is the new observation tower. One ride though I really want to see make a comeback though is eccentric Ferris wheels, there are only two of them on the entire planet (the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island and Pixar Pal-A-Round at DCA) and the Wonder Wheel has got to be the best Ferris Wheel I have ever been on.

  10. With Kings Island's Vortex closing it makes me wonder how much time the point's arrow coasters have left. Are they gonna be in it for the long haul, or are they gonna go the same route? CCMR, Corkscrew, Gemini, Iron Dragon, Magnum. And to think 4 of the 5 are the same age or older than Vortex. I could see Gemini going first as it's been rather unreliable this year from what I've seen. With the exception of Magnum I think the others could go any year. As long as Magnum stays around though I'm happy.

The difference between Vortex and most of CPs Arrows is that Vortex is painful. The only painful Arrow at CP is Corkscrew. That being said heres the list for the chopping block from most to least likely:

    1. Corkscrew

    2. CCMR

    3. Iron Dragon

    4. Gemini

    5. Magnum (I really dont see this ride going anywhere, we will see this retracked by Chance Rides before it meets the scrap yard)

  11. ^ I had no problems going in July, but yeah, they have like 5 buildings run down and unused that look like eyesores. Hopefuly next year they add something in Cobra's plot so we can see sprucing up of that area as well.

Me and my mom lucked out, we have Platinum membership that allowed us to use the membership entrance and skip the regular line. That line was awful though, it was easily 30-45 mins and to just get into the park that is atrocious. We didnt know about the second entrance before we went to Goliath and found it but next time we go we will be using that entrance if its open.

  12. ^Totally agree and hope that's the case! ...but La Ronde...

Honestly when I went in May I didnt think the parks ops were any worse than any other Six Flags park. IMO there are two big issues with this park:

!. The entrance policy is stupid, they need to redesign the main entrance to make it more efficient.

    2. Alot of the park is run down and needs alot of TLC, Vipre should help the area by Le Monstre get a little sprucing up but the area where La Cobra used to be is in desperate need of repair/renovation.
