  1. Something I have noticed this season so far is that the park is not honoring row requests as much and they are assigning rows on almost everything except Millennium Force and Blue Streak. I got assigned a row on Iron freaking Dragon!

Oh boy I hate to think getting assigned one of the dreaded box seats on Magnum. Personally I hate these assigned seats policies, I can understand why they are needed some times (for example a very compact station like Wicked Cyclones) but for most rides it's just a pain and not needed.

  2. Hi y'all!

So this Summer, around the end of July, I'm planning to do my first "multiple park road trip." I'm sort of looking for advice, plan of attack, etc, from locals of the parks I'm going to, or honestly anyone really.

    The order would probably be:

    Canada's Wonderland

    La Ronde

    Great Escape

    Seabreeze (maybe?)

I have a Six Flags Gold Plus membership (because my home park is SFDL) with a dining pass, so what should I do for Canada's Wonderland? Should I expect to buy a fast lane ahead of time?

Honestly any advice would be awesome, as all of these parks I'm going to are a first time, thanks!

One thing to keep in mind when going to Canada is gas prices, gas in Canada is ridiculously expensive even compared to NYS outrageous prices thanks to Trudeau and his Carbon tax. Oil is $67 a barrel and Canadians are paying the equivalent of oil at $150!

  3. ^ Wow, forgot about that tower ride! We had one at Playland years and years ago, near the front of the park.

A double decker, just like this one. Great views of the mountains and downtown, and over to the islands.

Yea I got to ride Space Spiral before they took it out for Gatekeeper. It was a fun ride but Gatekeeper is better and Id rather they keep the Skyride going (another rare attraction) Another rare La Ronde ride was La Cobra an Intamin standup coaster. They took it out in 2017 and needless to say Im glad that POS is gone. Its between that and Shockwave at KD for my worst coaster ever award.

Rest in Pieces La Cobra pretty sure no one will miss you

  4. Was looking thru Reddit today and saw that, after years of speculation, the former Hotel Cedars is coming down. It will be interesting to see what they do with the area, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of expanded services for the marina and eliminating the blind curves on that part of the perimeter road.

Thank goodness, those dorms have always been a blight on that area Im surprised they didnt remove them when Valravn was put in.

  5. Well Goliath was running today.....was.....they’re currently evacuating it....it’s stuck right below the second tower....unsure why but appears at least the ride stopped at a place they designed it to do this - right over platform with stair access....not sure if it was on its way up or coming down

    Poor Goliath...

Catch car mis-catch, basically the catch car on the second lift failed to grab the train and it eventually valleys in the location with the steps.

  6. Anyone have experience with camping near SFGADV?

Last year I camped at the Timberland Lake campground. While close the to the park, it was an expensive trash-heap of a campground.

The state and county campgrounds look decent, but they say "no alcohol". Camping isnt camping without having a beer around a campfire.

It doesn't seem like there are any good options?

NJ sucks for camping, you are really limited to private campgrounds (especially if you have dogs, NJ state campgrounds don't allow dogs). When we go down there we stay at the Butterfly campground an exit east from the park as its really the only place we can fit our massive trailer. Also, I tend to find the "no beer" to be pretty lack and is basically a "dont get drunk" rule or at least here in NY but in NJ it could be different solely due to the type of crowds who visit.

  7. With our neighbors up north officially announcing their record breaking dive coaster this morning, I wonder what crowds at our park will be like next year - mainly from the Canadian demographic. It would be fun to see Six Flags eventually try to use Darien to compete with Wonderland but I’m not gonna get my hopes up

I think Darien Lake mainly sees people from Buffalo and Rochester who don't want to cross the border (because its a pain especially in Niagara) or want to deal with Toronto traffic

  8. I’ve been digging around and I live near one of the parks that was recently acquired in the May 23rd transaction. from what I learned that the new Parks will have much needed park improvements Throughout the park and smaller type of attractions most likely be added for the 2019 season. I have good resources and from what I learned not too expect anything major but do expect something next season just like what Six Flags stated at the end of their press release from last season that they plan to add new “Attracrions” to all their parks each and every year. I’m OK with park upgrades and refreshes as long as something bigger is added in 2020.

I hope these "improvements" include two trains on every coaster that can operate two

  9. So, the first 2019 addition rumor is already leaking out online. Take it with a grain of salt as this is based off of "someone said this at a presentation" claims.

So, someone else (won't say who) on another website made the rather interesting claim that he knows someone who went to a presentation hosted by head Darien Lake / Six Flags corporate people. This claim goes on to say that this other individual that went to the meeting heard plans to add a Skywarp attraction to Darien Lake for 2019.

Again, don't take this too seriously yet, I don't know how valid the claim really is. However I will say that it seems like a decent addition if it happens. Also, if it becomes the next addition, it will technically be the Park's 9th coaster.

Seems odd they're putting in new additions as soon as they just acquired the park, as it'd make sense to wait a year, see how things work, spruce up the park, THEN add rides. But if that's what they're gonna do I'm not complaining.

Possible if they plan on rebranding the park to Six Flags in the first year.
