  1. I have to say, based on the high number of inversions and the intensity of the ride, this looks to be one of the best wing riders to date as far as ride experience is concerned. I enjoy B&M helixes, and I like the quick tight ones that seem to be taken at a decent speed on X-Flight.
  2. More like they won't. Progress on Lex Luther is lookin' pretty good, this thing'll be testing in no time!
  3. Not a coincidence, it's a Six Flags thing. They pride themselves on it, apparently.
  4. And exactly what kind of things, that fall into the relatively same minimal budget and time frame as this quick-fix on Little Mermaid, do you think deserves to be given attention around the rest of the resort? This was something that even bugged the big-wig himself, and they're quite minimal changes IMO. Any good attraction goes through improvements after being open for a period of time, and I'm glad they're taking the time to do the same to this one.
  5. ^Nice thought, but logistically the capacity would be quite low.
  6. You don't have to be a "Californian Disneyland fanboy" to be distracted by the unfamiliarity of the Ariel anamatronic in that scene. It looked weird. Period.
  7. ^Nope. Seriously, almost heartless. And to top it off they put all that cool old stuff on the lower level where it's exposed to outdoor conditions and will get destroyed.
  8. I know there's an open storm drain that runs along the backside of the mountain, from where Deja Vu was all the way past Batman to the backstage area (the lines for these rides actually go over the canals). I would guess that's where all the garbage is running off to, guests throw it or leave it somewhere, and eventually it collects to those drains. And it just means the park isn't being responsible about the trash on their own premises, which almost certainly doesn't surprise me, but it's pretty crappy if it's actually becoming evident off the property. As for the rides: lubricant, oil, grease, it all basically drips off into the soil beneath the rides. Some of the worst parts are where the chain sprockets are for the lift hills. On rides like Revolution, Viper, and X2, you can see how all the grease and oil drips overtime and eventually builds up. On Goldrushers 2nd lift it's the worst, basically oil accumulating under the lower sprocket on the lift hill. And it all goes into the soil. This is stuff regular guests don't look for or see, and it's not really in the most obvious places, but it's there.
  9. Kingda Ka is better than Dragster because it goes faster, higher, and has a speed hill.
  10. ^^^Interesting you say that about Apocalypse and Ninja, I feel that as far as thrills are concerned, they are almost on the same page. I would argue that I actually enjoy Ninja in the back seat more than any seat on Apocalypse. I know it's a woody but I felt they could have done much more with the opportunity they had in the corner of the park. Ninja at night actually has some nice surprises when you ride, and seems a bit more intense while you're flying through the trees.
  11. Man, this park is never gonna get a full circuit launch coaster...
  12. Yup, I've been saying this for years. Not a doubt in my mind.
  13. If any ride needs to run 3 trains it's Superman, and it's too bad they don't run three trains anymore like they did when it opened.
  14. It's nice to finally some progress off the side of the Superman tower! Not surprised by the opening date now being what it is, Six Flags is just doing par for the course.
  15. ^Because it's a coincidence. If you look at the photos and think how they haven't even started attaching the track to the side of the tower yet, it makes sense. It also eliminates the need to rent a crane. What's funny is that I never even noticed the yellow track on Superman became red at the end of it at the very top of the tower. Thanks for the photos sir clinksalot!
  16. What I'm saying is that Disney could actually keep their admission prices the exact same, and bump up the food prices to ridiculous amounts, and nobody could do anything about it -- but Disney don't. That's my point. Regardless of what you pay to get into the park, Disney could charge whatever they wanted once you're in, but they keep it decently priced. And it's just nice when you're in the most popular theme park in the world and you expect to be gouged for food in the park, but you look up at the prices and see that you can spend less than $10 on a beverage and a snack.
  17. Got to ride X2 last Thursday and had a great ride. I was pleasantly surprised when I got on and heard the audio playing! I was in the second row on the stair side, and although I didn't remember hearing the Rage song at the end of the ride, it did convince me again that it was cool atleast having it play while you're going up the lift. I've never been able to hear it during the ride. I did hear the original Riddler Music playing while going through the exit of the ride (to get to the single rider line) but I don't remember hearing it in the station. I thought it was funny how on here I read that the song was gone, but I heard it, and ended up reading about it after my trip too! I was only there for a few hours but I had a pretty good time at the park. I don't know how anyone is complaining about Colossus, I sat in the back and had the smoothest night ride on it and would have to say it's riding better than it has in a long time. Lots and lots of open space in Log Jammer's spot, looking at the area made me excited for the new ride, and less sad about seeing the old flume go. Did not get to try the Dole Whip, although I tried! The location by Apocalypse and former Jammer (where I believe they are serving things like fried ice cream too) were closed by the time I got to them. Has anyone had luck trying Dole Whip at the park yet?
  18. Okay, this is the icing on the cake as to why I respect Disney so much. Not a beverage over $4, not even the fancy iced coffee. And this is in a world renowned theme park. Of course they COULD gouge you for all you're worth! Nope! There's not a $15 chicken strip combo, or lame $13 souvenier bottle here! Even the meals are manageable, nothing over $10, even for a pulled pork sandwich. Good guy Greg with the grub on this one!
  19. First it's "they aren't even starting building yet what the heck!" now it's "those colors aren't what I want'" and it's pretty sad to think all people have to share is a complaint about the colors. I actually think a green track going down the side of the Superman tower would look awesome. Why wouldn't red, blue, yellow and green look good together? I actually think it will work out and end up looking great! It's exciting to see the car and parts arriving.
  20. There are 2 things I love about this, and just watching the tests had me comparing it to the water show at DCA. 1) From the promo material it seems like they have a beginning of a story with something as simple as frogs shooting water out of their mouths towards the center of the pond. It gives the show purpose, although only time will tell if its one worthy of sitting around for. The thing about World of Color to me that I feel is missing is a concrete foundation for its association in the park and how it ties in together as a reason for happening. For example, even the fireworks show at DL creates a connection and reason for the show by having Tinker Bell flying across the sky from the Matterhorn. 2) This park looks like it has a large area of water, perfect size for this kind of thing. One thing about World of Color @ DCA is that a rather large body of water in Paradise Pier was reduced in size, and now the show feels cramped into a pond. It can also look excessive at the same time, based on the scale of the performance and proximity to the guests. In order to pull something like this off the way it was meant, you need a big enough area so guests viewing the show don't get overwhelmed, and don't get damp if wind starts picking up. I guess what got me on this tirade is that I'd really like a park to do one of these shows right, and it always appears like little details prevent them from really hitting it out of the park, and sparking the kind of potential and popularity that was originally intended.
  21. I think we're all just used to DIsney's patented 'they announce it and immediately we see some progreess' way. That might not be Magic Mountain's style.
  22. ^In the video the two were independent but if I remember correctly there was an article or promo from the park that mentioned both are going to operate at the same time. I believe it has something to do with the mechanism that's going to be installed at the top of the tower to lift the cars. I'm sure there's a way they can disengage the car from the cable if need be for maintenance and to keep one side open, but operations and maintenance with this park are always a mystery so who knows.
  23. According to The Coaster Guy, this is true! Pineapple AND mango(?!). This is a good move for the park as I would assume Dole Whip would become an instant hit. However, the parks reputation in serving food licensed by chain brands is not too favorable, and sometimes even unrecognizable from those chains' core standards outside the park. It's pretty hard to screw up dumping a bag of Dole Whip in a machine, so perhaps this will avoid the initial opening quality dropping off as time goes by, much like Johnny Rockets or Papa Johns did.
