  1. I am not a huge fan of Frozen. Frankly I think people get too aggressive and too wrapped up in it, but for a park that has not changed dramatically in the last few years and that can use an upgrade, I am excited to see something new added! I have heard a lot of criticism from people that WDW does not add new attractions often enough and that they need new things more regularly. When they want to create something new, they look to update or remove older attractions that do not have the popularity that they originally had and carried for many years. As they said in the press release, WDW will never stop growing. Change is good.
  2. Some folks assume that the creation of fastpass+ means that all of a sudden, the regular fastpass service will disappear. That is 100% false. Disney is working to make the parks more streamlined. To avoid the "dad is going to run to Everest to get fastpasses then meet the family at safaris." Instead fastpass plus enables guests to book attractions in advance. To plan out their attractions and to organize their day. To those who do not use it, fastpass plus will not affect them as a balance is put in place between the fastpass plus users and the guests using regular fastpasses. Now granted, the fastpass is used as often as possible to help the attractions themselves to understand the demand for an attraction at a specific time. That way, the waits are less miserable and much shorter. It also makes planning easier for shows and other smaller attractions. If you would rather not be as planned, fastpasses for the larger attractions are available without worrying about other smaller attractions. Its that simple. It allows you to customize your vacation. I know a ton of people who would love to show up at Toy Story Mania at 5pm and already have their fastpass ready to go, not dealing with a standby line because they weren't there at park opening. Also, if you use the fastpass plus system, its actually very easy to be flexible with the times. During the original fastpass plus test at magic kingdom, they had several machines set up so that guests could access a record of their attractions and switch them if they needed to or wanted to. Also, the ability to have your child wear a wristband instead of carrying a key around for the room? Talk about a blessing. If the Kid can go grab something from the room and not have to worry about losing a card, its genius. They can use the disney dining plan and everything with the wristbands. Its a fantastic idea.
  3. ^^ lol, chevy has had their hand in disney's cookie jar for a long time. they are just reclaiming their name in the business with a few exceptions, all the disney company vehicles that are owned are disney. (there is a mercedes and a bmw runnin around somewhere though) The ride is supposed to go down the day after easter and be closed till the 100th anniversary of chevy at the latest. The imagineers have something good cooked up with this one though they have already started testing things out with the cue line and wait times. The ride should be the same as before, there should not be a difference in the track as far as CM's have been told Its rumored that they are going to be covering the outdoor portion of the track to allow the attraction to be more weather friendly.
  4. I think this is a really great thing for the park. Having worked at Expedition Everest, every day I was there it was more and more clear that the park is desperately in need of other E-ticket rides. At the moment, all they have is Kilimanjaro and Everest (Dinosaur is so ancient and poorly run and designed that it cant even remotely count as an E-ticket. In my opinion it needs to be updated or replaced) By having the Avatar franchise, they can explore new technology for rides and attractions while pushing the limits in theme park entertainment. The last thing that Animal Kingdom has received as far as rides are concerned was indeed Expedition Everest in 2006. Thats now 5 years ago and by the time Avatar is opened, it will most likely be close to 10 years since Everest opened. Also, in response to the idea that Avatar is the answer to Harry Potter, it is part of the situation, however Fantasyland was the first response to the popularity of Harry potter. In reality, Harry Potter will retain popularity but it will fade after a while due to the poor ride operations and the always crowded and tiny space inside Hogsmeade at Universal. In my entire time working at Disney, Everyone I've talked to has said they enjoyed it but that it was way too crowded and the forbidden Journey broke down at least once while they were in line. I would be surprised if the popularity of the wizarding world is maintained and remains as high in popularity as when it originally opened. I cannot wait to see what happens with the new avatar land in Animal kingdom. I hope to be there opening day if not working there opening day.
