  1. I was sad when I heard about KDconnection shutting down. I have had the idea to do a KD fan site for a long time but never really did anything with it. But when KDC shut down I thought it was time to see what we can do. It also worked out nice because we had a great working relationship with KD because of the off season podcasts. They are excited to have a fan site they can work closely with and we are excited that we get to bring you Behind the Screams! This is Rose's first on air position so she is kinda nervous about the outcome. I think she did pretty well for her first podcast. She did really well on the second shoot. We still have another day of shooting at the water park before we can edit and get the show up. Do you think Rose will make a good host? We also are tring to producer the show a little more then we have with In the Loop. Putting a little more time and planing in to the shows and editing. Let me know what you think of the podcast it self as well as what you think of Rose as the host.
  2. I know there are a lot of Kings Dominion fan sites that have popped up on the net in the last few years... and all I can say is here is another one! www.KDfansite.com KDfansite is working closely with Kings Dominion to bring you Behind the Screams to show you how it all works. Behind the Screams is a new podcast and blog hosted by Rose Gordon. In the first show she gives us a close up view Dominator. Please let me know what you guys think about the new podcast.
  3. I know Holiwood Nights 2008 has just finished up its trip, but on the one year anniversary I did finish the video of last years trip. Day 2 is now up at Coaster Crew's website Link to video. Here is day 1's video
  4. They still have a lot of painting to do. More then 4 or 5 days. And they cant paint and test at the same time. They are going to work as hard as they can to test at night and paint in the day. I don't know what the official name of it is but I like to call it the B&M Maintenance ball. The like a go cart the maintenance department can take out on the track to get up close and personal to see things that are not easily accessible.
  5. Well as most of you know Dominator started testing on Thursday. It did a few runs on Thursday and ran most of the evening Friday. Saturday they added the second train to the tracks along with the B&M maintenance ball. The park guests also had a chance to see Dominator in action as it started testing well the park was still open. More pictures at the Coastercrew.com photo gallery You can also see a lot of landscaping taking shape. Lots of trees, bushes, and flowers are now seen around the coaster. The path is also almost complete. And new Dominator gear is out! You can get all Dominator shirts for $12.99 in there "Buy it before you ride it" sale. Please feel free to check out the Dominator Testing video at our In the Loop page at CC.com!
  6. http://www.coastercrew.com/intheloop.php Finally got the Video podcast done! Sorry it took so long. This gives you a more up close look at Dominator. We were able to go places this time that we never have been before. Like the rides breaks, Train storage and more.
  7. There are still plenty of supports that need to be painted. But track gets painted first (because the paint might spill on to the supports), then the supports get painted.
  8. White track, I cant really say what it is because I don't know. I do know that before and after the loop there is a part of the track that is white. So if it will stay that way I do not know. Trees, Grass, bushes... They hope to have it all landscaped as soon as they can. They need to get most of the ride done first, so they can stop bringing in heavy equipment. Also over half the walking path that goes behind Scooby is almost complete.
  9. Was at the Dominator site today filming a podcast and got some great pictures. It is very muddy at the site due to all the rain that has falling in the last week. They are still working hard to get things ready for testing, which they want to start the first week of May. Station House The entrance and exit of the ride will meet on the parking lot side of the coaster. But as you can see there are two sets of stairs on the back side, that lead to the front. Dont know if they will have two sets for every one to use or if one will be the exit and the other for employees. Painting There are three paint crews on site trying to finish up the painting. The fell a bit behind with that because of all the rain. You can see the different color of the loop compared to the other parts of the track. You can find all these pictures in the Coaster Crew gallery. As you can see one train is on site. They have it warped right now because of the painting. They also do not have any of the fiberglass on it. They are going to test with out that on. Before the ride opens they will then dress it up. If you have any questions please feel free to email me coasterclint@coastercrew.com There are more pictures in the CC.com gallery under Park Albums > Kings Dominion > Dominator Construction Photos
  10. The breaks are trim breaks. They are not for valleying coasters, but rather to gently decelerate the coaster. Most of the time it is not even noticeable. Many B&M's have this, including Apollo at BGE. It allows for a more conferable ride.
  11. The podcast did not really have enoght bulk to be release. As to say there was not enoght footage. But the questions we asked fans on opening day will be used in the next podcast from the site. The next podcast will have some really cool things going on it. So stay tuned for that. Also about the ride station building. I don't think its looking to bad. In fact I kind like it. I know Geauga Lake had the big building thing for batman in front of it there. I don't think that will be included here.
  12. It was there when it was at Geauga Lake.
  13. Had a chance to go see Dominator today at Kings Dominion. There is not to much going on, but everything is still on time for a late May opening. The coaster now has power and they are still working on most of the paining, station wiring, trains, and air compressors. Media Day teasers have gone out to the media and invites will follow soon. Trains are still in the warehouse and are almost ready to come out and meet the track. Also most of the side walk layout is done. So when your at Kings Dominion over the weekend you can see where the sidewalk will snake through the ride area. They did say the sidewalk will not be black top, but the same stone as the new entrance. For more pictures check out the Coaster Crew Gallery.

  16. It will be free to get in for all the volunteers. Also just want to let every one know of one of the big auction items that we have on ebay for the Single Riders. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hypersonic-XLC-Ceremonial-Golden-Shovel_W0QQitemZ270223886473QQihZ017QQcategoryZ1550QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That is a link to the Hypersonic-XLC ground breaking shovel. All the money will go to Give Kids the World!
  17. Thanks James!! In the next week or so we will start going through every one who wants to be a rider and start selecting and making teams. We can only have 8 riders at Kennywood. You will hear back from us soon via email on how everything works. Also a big thanks to Kristi who donated the first donation of $50.00!! You don't have to start out that big, but $50.00 sure helps us get on our way. Please help with any donation you can. Even if its a $1.00, that will help a lot. If you really don't know what Give Kids the World is, think of it as a place that gives kids and there family a vacation from there childs terminal illness. The park provides the family with a condo for one week in the Orlando area at there village. There they have a number of activitys like Mini Golf and a Marry-go-Round. On top of there village, they will get the family free tickets to any Orlando park the kids wish to visit the week they are at the Village. The family does not spend a dime. Food at all the parks, along with the Village, there stay, tickets. Its all paid for. Your donation of $1.00 could help stock there cookie cart that makes its way around the village all day long. A cart that provides free cookies to all the kids in the village. Like an ice cream truck, it drives around and kids can run out and get cookies from it with out a worry of paying for them. You could help with that $1.00 picture taken by the Coaster Crew on there winter visit. a lot of people don't know but the Orlando parks, Disney, Universal, Seaworld, and others not only donate large amounts to Give Kids the World. But they also send there characters there daily to meet the kids, and tuck them in at night. So please help us out, weather its volunteering your time at the event, or donated that $1.00. Thanks again Kristi for your donation!

  21. Yes the riders take pledges and donations before the event and then ride all day to raise money. We have a lot of people looking at Kennywood as the park they want to work and ride at. That is some great stuff, but we also need people at the other three parks as well. So please if any one can sign up for them that would help out a lot!! We do still have spots open for Kennywood to so if thats the only place you can help out, then sign up!
  22. Feel free to email me at coasterclint@coastercrew.com for all the info you need before making the donation. I have all the documents in word form to send out. Thanks much!!
  23. Last year the Coaster Crew raised just under $7,000 with there charity group called Single Riders. No we are not a bunch of single guys raising money. We are filling empty seats on roller coasters to raise money. Or better known in the coaster world as Single Riders. All that money we raised went directly to Give Kids the World. A village in FL that gives kids and there family's a break from there terminal illness. This year we are at it again, but going bigger and better. We are at more parks, and trying to raise more money to help these amazing people. We are looking for volunteers, riders, and donations. So please help in any way you can! Donations weather you can only afford $1 or if you can give a little more, we need every dime we can get. We have a safe and secure way to donate your money on line so that every penny goes to Give Kids the World. $1.00 Donation $5.00 Donation $10.00 Donation $25.00 Donation Riders We are looking for teams who can raise alot of money, and can ride roller coasters all day. Can you do that? If you think you can handle the task them please go to this link for more info Link: http://www.coastercrew.com/singleriders.php Volunteers We are looking for people who can help the teams riding by assisting them in drinks, counting, what ever they may need. We also need other volunteers to help out at all the parks, the day of the event, and volunteers who will be working at the Give Kids the World Village the day of the event. To volunteer: http://www.coastercrew.com/singleriders.php Please make sure you send us a message if you donate from this site so we can make sure that we give a big thanks to you and the people at Theme Park Review for helping us out. I know its going to take a lot of work to bet $7,000, but I know we can do it! If you have any questions feel free to post hear or email me at coasterclint@coastercrew.com
