  1. I think you have hit the nail on the head there, most non enthusiasts have never even been to Southport, so to them this is a new coaster, and lets be honest, its gotta be safer for my health than the log flume, lost count of how many colds i got from walking round a freezing Blackpool soaked from the flume
  2. I like the idea of differant styles of park, trying something new makes sense, like DisneySea... but i hope no more copies of exisitng parks, takes the fun out of travelling to see something unique if there are too many
  3. 'Stupid immature path'??? having a bad day are we? Get a grip, just making a valid point.
  4. Disney are great at getting the rumours going, lets not forget, last year there were rumours of parks in Southern Spain, Austraila, Singapore and of course China. Not really sure another park in the US would be beneficial as it would take finance away from the other 2 sites. Would hate to see WDW... suffer just for the sake of opening another park.
  5. Have to agree, but then im not too excited, apart from the effects and the water it is still basically the same ride from Southport. Still not convinced putting a 2nd hand coaster into the park is the right way to go. Lets hope this is not the only new coaster that the park will install for the forthcoming future.
  6. Ok So can i ask those of you who have obtained onride photos, did you ask permission or just take the risk. I have found in some American Parks i could ask the ride operator if it was ok (especially small parks) usually on a coaster that does not travel over other guests it is not a problem. With the corporate parks it seems impossible. My site and a friends site for Blackpool PB have recentely been asked not to include non-official onride pics/videos onto there site by the owners of the park. I have to wonder how this may affect the onride videos posted to TPR
  7. It seems that more and more parks have put all out bans on taking cameras onto rollercoaster rides (Health & Safety) Yes i can understand large professional cameras or video cameras but are there any known instances when a camera has injured a rider or park guest. I can not recall ever hearing of this in any news reports. I used to take a tiny compact camera secured to my wrist to get those excellent onride pics but it seems parks are asking clubs and sites not to do this any longer and not to post pictures of this nature, to discourage others doing the same. Would be interested in others views on this
  8. Will be in Blackpool Thursday but not holding my breath to an opening. Its a shame as they have had plenty of time to get the ride open for the new season. Looks like they will aim for May Day Bank Holiday, my timing is out again worse luck
  9. Then the Cyclone must have some significance: Last surviving coaster of Oscar Bitler Operates the last remaining train from the Palisades Park Cyclone Listed as an ACE Classic Coaster. Have to agree that the park was ahem 'unique' and was never going to be turned into a Dorney... but im always sad to loose any woodie. Just out of interest Rob, whats your opinion on the likes of Libertyland, Joyland, Bells.....
  10. The coaster in India was a copy using the original plans, just like the Coney Island Cyclone has been copied many times. Blackpool PB in house was used in the construction. As far as King Solomons Mines (Wild Mouse) goes i have been unable to get confirmation of its future. It was in great condition so you would think a smaller park would pick it up, but no news yet.
  11. It is in the context that you use the words Rob, thats all. Of course its ok to have an opinion. I just get tired of people simply of writing off parks, coasters, rides these days without giving them the respect they deserve. History is history and we should be proud of it, without these original designers (lets remember they built these coasters without the aid of super computers...) and parks we would not have so many great traditional parks to visit today. It has happened in the UK, the big corporate parks have driven the old traditional parks out of business and its happening more and more in the US. We all need our local 'starter' park to cut our teeth on. Just a shame that the corporate parks can not live side by side with the traditional.
  12. Sorry, but if every park and coaster was the same it would be a fairly boring world to live it, to say a coaster SUCKS is ignorant as some people enjoyed riding it. Im not saying the Cyclone should be saved, as you are correct it is a bad coaster now, but it was not when it first opened, the years have simply not been kind and the lack of repairs over the years have resulted in one of the most bizzare rides around. As for not being into the history of coasters thats fine, but what would you say if the Phoenix was removed. Its people like the Knoebels family that do look at history, saved the Rocket and now are giving us a change to ride a Flying Turns, something i thought i would never get the chance to ride. So goodbye to the Cyclone, and heres to all the great and not so great coasters out there
  13. Yeah but shame to be losing the Cyclone, ok its not the best woodie or safest looking coaster you would ever want to ride, but its another historic coaster (and train) we are going to loose and the last to my knowledge built by Oscar Bitler.
  14. I hope it does not just get put into storage or left in a field to rot. So many times this happens and the coaster just heads into folklore. However, i feel Zingo has more chance of being rebuilt providing Bells do find a new suitable location, as they were looking at building another wooden coaster on the old site. Fingers crossed
