Merry Christmas From Theme Park Review!

Merry Christmas everyone! I got cash to put towards the TPR Europe trip in 2012! -
Today was Prowler sneak preview day for season pass holders. There was a big turnout for the event and waits were around a half hour to ride. The ride itself is awesome! I rode once in the back and twice in the front. I thought the front was a better ride because of the crazy airtime! Fast and smooth!

Hard Rock Park - 05/26/08
westipher97 replied to westipher97's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It doesn't seem right to post dates and times on their website stating they would be opened with no disclosure stating that the dates and times could change at any time before grand opening. The average person doesn't know what a soft opening is and just like us we saw on their website a month ago that they would be opened and we planned our trip. I guess we are just hoping for a miracle that maybe someone knows something such as the park still opening tomorrow but just isn't being advertised. -
My family and I drove from Kansas City, MO to Myrtle Beach, SC to do the new Hard Rock Park. We are in Charlotte right now and are planning on driving to Myrtle Beach tomorrow morning. I was just searching their website and it says they are closed Monday May 26th for "fine tuning". I checked their website about a month ago and it said that they would be open from 10 am - 7 pm on Monday May 26th and I called to confirm that time and they said yes, the park will be open so we made hotel arrangements and asked for time off for work. I can understand cutting back park hours but it just makes no sense that they were open this Sat and Sun and they won't be open for Memorial Day. Is it open on Memorial Day and it's just not being advertised now?! Anyone know more?

^ I have the same question regarding Lightning Loops. Wasn't someone checking restraints?! Didn't ride ops physically pull on them to ensure they were locked? Even if you just walked by and made a visual, wouldn't you notice if a rider didn't have his/her harness pulled down? -
Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis. Right after the sidewinder, you go right under the chain return. Also, going into the final brakes you pass by some supports on the last banked turn. Gets me every time!

I'm glad to see most coasters were running 2 trains. Last Christmas when I was there some lines were 50 minutes and only one train running. If Tatsu has a 1+ hour line, then all trains should be used and if they stack, maybe operating procedures need to change. I was lucky and hit Tatsu right after openning so our wait was about 10 minutes.

How can you "basically" be on staff. Either you are or you aren't. -

Wow, if they are cracking down on foolishness out there, maybe I shouldn't have ridden Mamba and Timberwolf shirtless 3 weeks ago! -

With my wife being in school this morning and part of the afternoon, I decided to hit up my hometown park today. She is pregnant and can't ride coasters so I try to go when she is busy with school. I met up with my friends Jason and Michelle and Jason's younger brothers, Austin and Kevin. The weather today was perfect, around 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Operations were exceptional today as the crowds were heavy. No stacking on the coasters today. Timber Wolf crew usually has trouble with stacking trains, but that was not the case today. Timber Wolf is still a little rough in my opinion, even with the new trim brake installed a little more than half way through the ride. Mamba, Spinning Dragons, and Patriot were all smooth as glass as usual. I didn't ride Boomerang today because I didn't feel like waiting for it. Mamba - 3 trains running, 2 rides front and back seats, 20 min. wait Timber Wolf - 2 trains running, 1 ride back seat, 15 min. wait Patriot - 2 trains running, 1 ride back seat, 20 min. wait Spinning Dragons - 5 cars running, 1 ride, 20 min. wait I noticed security checking bags when I was leaving the park. They were not checking bags when I went in. There are no metal detectors and this is the first time I've seen security do this at Worlds of Fun. Now, on to the pictures! One last shot of Patriot I noticed security checking people's bags as they entered the park. When I went in they weren't doing that. My wife Amanda and I went down to Six Flags over Texas for the Memorial Day weekend. My wife is pregnant and can't ride anything, but I sure had a blast! The day started rainy, but as we got closer to the park the rain stopped. It stayed cloudy for the rest of the day. The Oil Derrik was shut down "due to inclement weather", even though there was no wind or rain, so we couldn't get pictures from up there. Texas Giant-1 ride, 2 trains running, walk on Titan-1 ride, 2 trains running, walk on Shockwave-3 rides, 1 train running, walk on Mine Train-1 ride, 1 train running, 20 minute wait Mini Mine Train-1 ride, walk on Mr. Freeze-1 ride, 1 train running, 15 minute wait Batman the Ride-1 ride, 2 trains running, walk on Judge Roy Scream-1 ride, 1 train running, 5 minute wait Flashback-1 ride, walk on All the rides were good. Texas Giant was extremely rough, I rode in the back seat. Got some awesome air time in the back seat of Shockwave. I blacked out on 2 of Titan's helices (always a weird experience). The employees were efficient and there was no jacking around. We end the day with a shot of Titan from the parking lot Me and Amanda with Batman the Ride Mr. Freeze and Superman Batman the Ride Batman the Ride and Mr. Freeze Batman the Ride and Mr. Freeze Judge Roy Scream Me on Mini Mine Train Shockwave Shockwave Texas Giant and Titan Shockwave Shockwave Me Titan Texas Giant Me on the Texas Giant Texas Giant Texas Giant Texas Giant Me and Amanda with Sylvester and Speedy Me and Amanda

"You are so wrong." "Hehe, WOF posts make me laugh when people get their facts wrong, good to put them straight D-Ho" I am 100% right and I have backup on here to prove it. Once again, I worked at that ride for four years so I know the area pretty good. -

^Well, I would have to agree with everybody but you. Spinning Dragons takes up most (not all) of the space that OE did. Patriot takes up a small fraction of the space. I worked at that ride from 1999 to 2003 so I should know. Have you ever been to the park? SD sits in front of the old photo booth and Patriot sits to the left of the old tunnel so non of those rides occupies any space where the actual ride was, maybe the queue line but not the ride itself. -

I actually went to guest relations to complain about one train operation on Viper and Revolution when they had 55 minute waits. I know they were that long because we actually waited for Viper and the lady in guest relations told me that the park doesn't decide how many trains they run on the coasters that some safety committee does. Also, high winds in the area were a reason too, along with some other stupid off the wall reasons. Every coaster with the exception of Viper, Revolution, and Gold Rusher were running multiple trains and I don't think that wind was a reason for running one train on those rides. -

"Partly. Both Patriot and Spinning Dragons occupy the space that OE did" This is not true, Spinning Dragons is where the dolphin show/dive show used to be and Patriot is where the Rockin Reeler and a couple of shops used to be plus open space in front of the park.
