this is pure rumor, but what i heard was the philladelphia toboggan company told them to knock it off, sadly. -

i have only ridden the untrimmed version, so i don't have an informed opinion on how the trims affected it, but i believe in its untrimmed form, i305 has the greatest first drop of any coaster in the world. the lift hill is very fast and throws you out of your seat for some quality air as you crest the apex, and you remain airborne for the entire 300-foot decent. -

rider comfort always seemed like a weird excuse to me, since backlot stunt coaster is a greyout machine as well -- it's not fast, but that initial helix (inside the "parking garage") is so tight, it really pulls a lot of G's for an extended period. -

yeah, redfoot, i always thought that an overbanked turn instead of that 270 degree helix would be a great way to put less stress on the wheels, and simultaneously bleed off enough speed that you wouldn't need the trims going into the second half of the ride. a redesign of such proportions is probably not really feasible, though, sadly. i wonder what they could be doing. probably just adding trims to the drop on the second hill rather than the first. that'd at least be a huge improvement over the current solution, because its top speed would be restored, and we'd have the greatest first drop in coasterdom back again. -
- #1 is mean streak. yuck. such a pretty profile. such a terrible ride. - i didn't think drachen fire was THAT rough. i remember thinking mind eraser (cookie cutter vekoma slc) was worse. - having said that, almost all arrow loopers are bad. i know of only two exceptions: nessie, and tennessee tornado. - speaking of arrow....i would just like to take this moment and commit coaster enthusiast blasphemy and say i hated magnum XL-200. it feels like the whole thing was poorly engineered: the banking is all wrong on all of its turns, making it absurdly rough. it's a badly-designed 200-foot mine train coaster. if it had OTSRs, it would bash people unconscious. - vekoma slc's - the Flight of Fears back when they had OTSR's. OUCH. - Hurler. it sucks, plus it gets additional points deducted because its construction eliminated much of the forest around the Grizzly.

Jack Rabbit at Kennywood is a good answer. But I would have to say without a doubt, the best and most intense moment of airtime i've ever experienced was on Intimidator 305 on opening day in the back row. first drop. it flew over that initial apex faster than millenium force, totally throwing you up out of your seat before plunging you 300 feet (almost) straight down.

that looks fantastic, and i would put money that you are correct about the general gist of the ride! (except the 95 degree drop. i think it will be closer to 85 degrees) -

the stubs highlighted in pink are identical to the stubs on all the lift hill peices, where the stairs or ladder or elevator will attach. there are connectors directly adjacent to that which resemble track connectors (highlighted in blue). that definitely pegs this peice as a part of the lift apparatus. WHICH part is definitely confounding, but i challenge anyone to fit this peice into a standard 45 degree lift hill structure. tentatively, it looks to me like it fits better with either a vertical lift, or something altogether extremely weird that we haven't thought of. additionally: *IF* (and at this point this is still a big if) this is a vertical lift, there is about 380 feet of vertical lift track on-site. -

- i liked hypersonic, but i'm willing to admit it was a bust. - Hurler is a legitimate bust. what a turd. - Shockwave? ok, bust. - anaconda is an average Arrow looper. not a bust unless you consider most Arrows busts. - Volcano has a great launch and volcano exit. yes it ends abruptly and too soon, and the barrel rolls are in slo-mo, but i don't think you can call it a bust. the launch and loop are sweet. - dominator is a great, long, B&M floorless. non-bust. - Backlot Stunt Coaster is fun for the whole family. non-bust. - Scooby is a classic. non-bust. - Rebel Yell ditto. - Grizzly ditto. - Avalanche is always fun. - FoF is a good ride since the removal of the OTSRs. non-bust. so ok i can think of 3 definite "busts" out of what, 13 coasters? -

hey guys, i'm the one who made the "recreation" of the KD giga in No Limits. My primary goal was to see if a Giga would actually fit in the space provided. it does. i looked at google earth images of the area and made sure i had the scale and shape correct and then i basically just plopped down MF's station, lift hill, first drop, and a modified version of it's first turn, and they fit fine. My secondary goal was this: to see if the drawing another poster made of the layout (based on plans he says he saw) was a viable layout for the ride. it definitely is. its length is in the right ballpark and it is not dissimiliar to the only other Intamin Giga. but as you guys noticed, it's LOTS of turns with little room for airtime. (blame the guy that did the drawing (or potentially Intamin's designers), not me ) third, i should apologize to No Limits experts. my goal wasn't to spend a month tweaking a ride to be perfect or glass-smooth ... hell in a month, we might know the REAL layout, and have an official on-ride PoV. i just wanted to whip this up relatively fast and put this out there to make the points above, and also to have some fun speculating. stir the pot. here are some images for people without no limits. (people with limits?? ) here is bejackso's original sketch, and next to that is a top-down view of my "recreation" in the no limits editor: here is a side view from the editor: here are some images from onboard the ride. here is a link to the track. http://www.theoverprivileged.com/coasters/KD-Giga-Coaster2.nltrack
